Allen vs. Webb - a different comparison of the two candidates

A campaign of contrasts, right down to footwear: Senator George Allen, left, Republican of Virginia, favors cowboy boots, while his opponent, James Webb, a Democrat, prefers his son’s old combat boots.

I saw this picture and it just spoke worlds to me. We basically have the Bush Regime and their republican congress - a bunch of pretend cowboys thinking that Iraq is some form of new 'Wild Wild West' but none of them have a clue. And then you have Webb, who is wearing his son's combat boots - a man who isn't just of words, but was actually out there serving our country in wartime (Vietnam) and if I'm correct, even his son has served.

Those cowboy boots reminds me of everything wrong with the Bush administration - a group of mainly crusty white men who think by wearing cowboy boots somehow they actually are cowboys.

1. "........ and if I'm correct, even his son has served."
His son is on active duty as a Marine. He was just deployed to the Middle East (not sure if it is Iraq or Afghanistan) a week or two ago.

2. Fake Cowboys, Real Soldiers
Webb's son is serving in Iraq now. How many allen's are serving in uniform today? How many "conservatives" can't fathom the connection? How many bush supporters view allen as a patriot and webb as a coward? "Conservatives" you suck! You are ruining our country with your ignorance which you are oh so proud of.

8. What a great bumper sticker that would be

Fake Cowboys, Real Soldiers

Or in a campaign ad ---

Where do Allen and Webb stand? One's a fake cowboy and one's a real soldier.

5. No manure on those Cowboy Boots = Bullshit
Back in the day when I was working at a riding stable in Staten Island we used to check out the soles of anyone who came in wearing cowboy boots and claimed to know how to ride. If there was dried manure on the soles and any wear indication that they'd spent time in the saddle we'd take the person's claims of equestrian expertise seriously.

If the boots were clean and shiny and new we'd make sure he got assigned one of our equine bullshit detectors--guaranteed not to move beyond a slow walk for anyone who did not know how to speak horse.

Real cowboy boots don't look too pretty. If Senator Allen spent alot of time on a horse in these boots, they'd be worn around the instep. The inside of the calves would be worn where they come in contact with the fenders. If he actually worked cattle in those boots, they'd have dents and cuts where cows tromped all over them.

The toe of the left boot is worn indicating someone who sits on a chair alot tipping the toe on the floor--nothing wrong with that, of course but it doesn't show that the guy's spent alot of time using these boots for what they were indended. Now I've actually seen pictures of Allen on a horse so he's one up on the Chimp there but my guess is he has "people" to clean his horse up and bring it out all saddled for him.

Take it from the Cowgirl. Lack of shit on the boots indicates that the wearer is full of it.
