Sign the Declaration of Peace
Urge Congress to Bring the Troops Home
Dear Joe,
TrueMajority members have been working to stop the war in Iraq since before the invasion, and you've been among the most active. So we thought you'd want to know about this new campaign to take our activism a step further – perhaps even as far as performing an act of civil disobedience.
Thousands of people have already signed the Declaration of Peace, a nationally coordinated grassroots effort calling on Congress to establish a concrete and rapid plan to end the war in Iraq and support a comprehensive peace process by September 21st – the International Day of Peace. Will you join in?
The campaign was launched by people we know and respect – major peace groups, Iraq veterans, and mainstream religious organizations. You can choose whatever level of involvement works for you, from signing the petition to attending a vigil to joining a non-violent demonstration at the U.S. Capitol.
Join the Declaration of Peace campaign and urge Congress to legislate a plan to:
Establish a prompt timetable to bring the troops home,
Secure a peace process for security, reconstruction, and reconciliation, and
Shift funding from excess military spending to support of education and health care for U.S. citizens.
