1. Didn't Scott Ritter say this back in March or so?
Back when he was also predicting the war against Iran would start in June/July?

7. Yep, Ritter said so in March/April
But no one pays any attention to him since he has always been right on the mark, and the 'liberal' media hates that.

Of COURSE we are already on the ground. They are GOING to bomb Iran...they would get blue balls otherwise.

The only decision left to be made is to do it before the election or after, depending on how the polls are looking.

If, in the final weeks leading up to the election it looks certain a Democratic majority is coming, they will invade to generate a "war bounce". IF it looks like they can steal it without the bombs, they will wait a few weeks, then do it knowing the Dems can't stop em.

2. Wouldn't Surprise Me
at all. We have special forces running around all over the place. I had some SF friends I knew operating out of Djbouti, Djbouti who were regularly making incursions into places like Somalia and Kenya for intel gathering operations.

8. General Gardiner made several interesting remarks
I wasn't surprised by the content of his statement about Iran; I was surprised that he was a messenger. Ya never know who yer friends are. Ritter and Hersh and Clark have made similar remarks. The forces in Iraq are either Special Forces or Private Military Contractors tasked to locate targets etc. rummy loves the PMCs because they can fly under congressional oversight. Off budget. Creepy.

Psst. Some members of congress do probably know about this, but with rummy keeping it secret--they don't have to say that they know.

Another statement that Gardiner made concerned the beginning of the Iraq War during the summer of 2002. This is not given much notice. As it happens, I was part of a group doing some fact-checking that summer, I keep bumping into pieces that indicated that the war had already begun. Once I'd gone back and checked into what I was seeing, I had a "holy shit" moment. Clark writes about this "softening up" targeting in his second book.

Wolfie quickly covered up Gardiner's assertion about the start of the Iraq War by musing the early bombing was in response to Iraq's firing on American planes. That was a lie. There was a clear and markedly stepped up bombing of Iraq during the summer of 2002. The excuses came everyday and were quite transparent. They would claim that radar installations were moved etc. Lies. While the charade of debate would not start until September, the war had already begun.

10. We were already in Iraq 18 months before we invaded. What's new?
What is it about Iran that makes them more likely to use nuke weapons than India, Pakistan, Israel, UK, China, or the US? History would make you wonder.

Journalist Seymour Hersh reported the presence of US military operating inside Iran in a New Yorker magazine article and also during this interview he did with Wolf Blitzer:

source: http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/04/10/hersh.access/index.html

BLITZER: Bottom line, what you're saying here is that there are American forces, clandestinely, already inside of Iran.

HERSH: That's what I'm saying.

BLITZER: You want to elaborate on that?

HERSH: Well, I'll tell you one thing that is very interesting to me about it. They're not Special Forces; they're regular military. And that's part of the Rumsfeld notion that all military guys are potentially Special Forces. And I think it's fraught with danger. But they're there.

And we're not saying any more specifically about where they are or what they're doing. Nobody wants to see anybody get hurt. But they are there and the American public should know it because, I assure you, the Iranian government knows it.

12. That is standard operating procedure.
Special Ops people and Special Forces always go in before a conflict and covertly gather intelligence.

This is nothing new. I was in Special Forces as an 18E/ Special Operations Communication Sergeant, and I see absolutely not a thing unusual in this.

13. Not unusual?
Edited on Tue Sep-19-06 09:23 AM by htuttle
You say, "Special Ops people...always go in before a conflict", and yet find nothing unusual about the fact that the executive branch is starting another illegal war of aggression without the consent of Congress? You do know that he's not legally allowed to do this, right? We do not live under a military dictator yet.

16. HAH...not unusual??? what you say???
you said this...."Special Ops people and Special Forces ALWAYS GO IN BEFORE A CONFLICT....and covertly gather intelligence"......again...."Special Ops people and Special Forces ALWAYS GO IN BEFORE A CONFLICT...and covertly gather intelligence"...

In other words...we ARE GETTING READY TO ATTACK IRAN...

I don't want another war waged in MY NAME...I don't want ONE MORE person...soldiers/civilians black/yellow/white christian/muslim/jewish whatever KILLED IN MY NAME.....

So let me ask you this...while we have our "operatives" behind the scenes in Iran...and since we've destroyed Afghanistan/Iraq already...is it going to be fair when we find we have foreign "operatives" within our own country's borders...preparing to attack us, possibly from within...

The day will come when we will face a comeuppance for our foolishness...I sincerely hope we are ready...and I hope sincerely that I am wrong...

15. Sure we are. We were in Iraq months before moron* got his "okay"
from the UN.

this is how it all works. There are SEALS, NSA, etc. (take your pick of agency) in there working with the local nuts to get the ball rolling on the ground.

I wouldn't be the least surprised if we had someone in there since moron* was first appointed.
