Two things that apparently never happened
First-Bob Ney did NOT plead guilty

Oh wait, he did or as the AP puts it
Ney became the first lawmaker to admit wrongdoing in the election-year congressional corruption probe spawned by disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff.

So there have been at least FIVE convictions so far directly linked to Abramoff (not including the Jack-ster himself) not that that is important. Seems that since Duke Cunningham's heavily Republican district barely stayed Republican in the special election the press has followed its marching orders and doesn't mention this anymore.

Something else that didn't happen and therefore is not mentioned is this ad

It wasn't mentioned at all on Meet the Press nor has it became a nightly staple of the braying asses on TV.
Not that anything like that has ever happened before or anything.

Welcome to the era of the New Truth.

2. Jefferson trumps
I think the media and the Republicans (is there a difference?) think that because William Jefferson D-LA has been accused of bribery, that trumps every Republican whose been ensnared in the Abramoff scandal, making corruption supposedly "bipartisan."
Amazing how the Dems let another issue slide, just amazing.

3. I agree
I didn't put that in the original post but I was wondering what had happened to the "culture of corruption". :eyes:

This is getting quite maddening- maybe the are really in cahoots and we just see the wrestling match.

5. We've always had Congresspeople who have profited from their
positions. What's different today is that the entire national organization of the GOP is run like an organized crime syndicate. They have no problems suppressing the vote, gaming electronic voting, and generally stealing elections. They have demonstrated their alleigence to corporate interests and are quite busy dismantling our commonwealth. They start illegal wars so they can hand out no-bid contracts to their contributors.

Seriously, I don't think you can expect the national GOP to run reformers and people of integrity, that'd be dangerous for its continued hi-jacking of our government.

4. The public can't be outraged if the public is uninformed.
I wish someone would do an analysis of our broadcast media content today....and compare it to 5 and 10 years ago. I think we are very well informed on the issues that impact .000001% of the American people, like Lacy Peterson, OJ, Halloway, etc. When it comes to the issues that impact us all...not so much.

6. It's never been about what they say, it's always been about what
they don't say.
