New Democrat Network - Non-Federal
Centrist Democratic organization
501 Capitol Ct.
Washington, DC 20002

Pharmaceutical Research & Manufacturers of America $220,035
AT&T Corp. $175,035
Capital One Financial Corp. $135,000
Pfizer Inc. $125,000
Microsoft Corp. $106,035
Citigroup $75,535
Securities Industry Association $75,335
Boeing Co. $71,000

Now compare the New Democrat Nework and the DLC to the Progressive 21st Century Democrats:

AFL-CIO $120,250
SEIU $120,000
AFSCME $69,100
International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) $27,500
Communications Workers of America $25,000
American Federation of Teachers (AFT) $10,000

...

So who would you trust with your contributions and votes?

List #1 damn near reads like a GOP guest list, doesn't it? I wonder why?

List #2 looks like people I know.

5. You forgot to add a warning about proceed with caution
Statistics like that are enough to cause whiplash and/or the gag reflex to kick in.

I see the writing on the wall, just a little more clearly now.

Haven't you seen the graphic of those three posted here a few times? The DLC/NDN has been astroturfing DU for a while I think.

of Vermont. Of course those FACTS don't fit your preconcieved warped view of the other candidates drilled into your head by the Dean campaign propaganda machine, but who the hell cares now, he's in 4th friggin place.

On another note, I don't like people who are beholden to big bussiness OR big labor

16. "Big Labor"
you mean, like, public school teachers right? The mighty mighty workers of the SEIU? Truck drivers? Ken Lay, Bill Gates, and the rest of Corporate America are shitting their pants over "Big Labor" right?

Just the fact that someone can compare the two power blocks - corporations and what is left of the labor movement - as if they are somehow equal, well, it tends to let you find out quickly whose side people are on.

20. well you dodged my pointing out of your hypocracy
and I never said that those 2 establishments are equal, but the whole point of your post was to bash candidates for the same association that your candidate has.

Face it. Dean is a knob, and his "movement" was never anything close to what it's members believed it was.

22. well you're right about Dean, and I'm right about the DLC
Never been a Dean fan, more of a consistent basher of his - but whatever. He was DLC until they decided he couldn't win, what of it?

I didn't start the New Democrat Network, I don't post nice things and PR about "New Democrat" ideas that are being paid for by Microsoft, Citigroup, and the like. I'm not a member of the DLC attacking unions. So tell me:

"but the whole point of your post was to bash candidates for the same association that your candidate has"

My candidate is not bought and paid for by George Soros and Bill Gates and Sandy Weill either. Is yours?

Edited on Sat Feb-07-04 04:56 PM by shance
Then some, like Dean, who decided to run, began to see the writing on the wall of establishment, when he realized how exclusive DLC behaves when the chips are down.

DLC was not obvious in their establishment elitist roots until they were forced under the light.

I just realized the extent of establishment in both the DNC and the DLC and I have been a member of the DNC for a number of years, however not in the past few. Its all about the bucks and remaining in the in crowd if you belong in these establishments. I had gotten enough of that from previously belonging to the Republican party. I couldnt believe the DNC was as snobby if not moreso than the Republican organizations I had attended (more to prove I guess*)and I would imagine DLC is no different really, but I have never been a part.

Dean is truly psychic in his insight, when he says we cannot beat the Right by TRYING TO BE LIKE THEM.

Dean would be our next president if our government was not as corrupt and able to manipulate the true desires of Americans. It makes me very sad. John Kerry may be our next president, although he will be Diebolded Im certain, however if he is, he will have to know intuitively that he is the true choice of America.

21. I can't just brush it off with go figure
I really would like to know why unions are backing candidates that are pro-NAFTA. I would like to know why they endorse candidates that the majority of the rank and file do not support.

I'm learning a lot about how un-democratic the democratic process really is. I hate to say it but I can kind of see why so many people don't even bother to vote.

23. what choice do they have?
Most of the unions supported Gep, who was certainly against Nafta. The AFSCME and SEIU got behind Dean, who changed his Nafta tune after their endorsement - but they do not have as much to lose from outsourcing, and represent a different faction of labor in general.

Of course, in my opinion they should have endorsed Kucinich...

29. "New Democrats" == Old Republicans
It all started in 1992 with the "corporate sponsors" of the Democratic Convention. Their boy Clinton was in the race as the Democrat, so they knew that whoever won, they'd have unfettered access to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

These "New Democrats" are DESTROYING our party. Other than Clinton's 1996 victory (with < 50% of the vote), we've seen nothing but decline and defeat. We lost the House, we lost the Senate, and we're losing on the state level too.

Oh, but we DO have more money now, and much nicer "fundraisers". Some trade-off, huh?

You know, like the Republicans. They put out a slick mag every so often. I figured the DLC would too. If they do I wonder who publishes it.
