the current job vs. budget scenario. My husband used to love her, now he'd put her on a dartboard. But of course, I will be making sure he votes Dem. ;)

The problems in Michigan are severe, and as witnessed in other states people can turn. This is my fear. I hope I am wrong.

9. Michigan will not go for Bush

The fact that the UAW did not endorse a candidate in the primaries doesn't matter, the unions will work hard for the Democrat in the fall.

Michigan has the highest unemployment rate in the country, a bad sign for Bush.

The Arab-American vote went overwhelmingly for Bush in 2000 and will go strongly for the Democrat in 2004.

Michigan is more Democratic than it was in 2000 by any measure.

21. I hope you are right. We're a UAW family and I don't see very strong

support. I've been calling to get the vote out. Informed voters? yes. Uninformed voters (and there are a heck of a lot of them) no. I don't think you can look at this as an easy win. Let me put it this way, my husband is on of 2 non Republicans in his shop. One guy is a Libertarian/ my husband leans Democratic but is noncommital.

The UAW is the voting bicep of Michigan whether we care to think that way or not. They encouraged my brother in law to vote for Bush in 2000...and guess what he did?

We will have to work hard. :hi:

I really don't think I will live in a red state in November. You can't open a newspaper without reading about another plant closing down.

Plus we just elected a Dem to the Governor's office.

Bush will assure his re-election through any means necessary, whether an attack on Syria or Iran, or (a sure bet) voter fraud. Not enough for a landslide, but just enough to assure what he will call a "mandate." Certainly not a close election. He will not give up power honestly and voluntarily. If need be, he will declare martial law. I really believe that, but they will put the mechanisms in place to steal it before such a drastic measure is tried. You read it here. Hope I'm wrong, but doubt it. Honest elections from this crowd? Sorry, no Easter Bunny or tooth fairy, either.

but I don't really think that any of those 4 states are too vulnerable in '04. Perhaps I'm being optimistic but i also feel the same way about PA & MI.

My bigger concern is what states are we going to win back, especially assuming the south is probably not going to swing our direction? Ohio would be a big win and we'd have to fight for it on the JOBS issue. I think the right candidate and campaign effort could possibly pull in AZ and NV, and WV. From there, I'm not sure where the options are?

13. I believe that Minnesota will go for the Democrat.

Yes, we have a Republican governor and a Republican Senator.

But there were special circumstances each time.

In the governor's race, a Democrat ran on the Independence ticket and split the Democratic vote.

In the US Senate race, Paul Wellstone died in a plane crash shortly before the election.

It will take plenty of work from Minnesotan Democrats, but I believe that we can give our state's electoral votes to the Democrat.

the Steel tariffs within a week. I can tell you that a lot of Steel workers are really pissed. Holding his hand out looking for donations and then turning around and screwing them within a week.

No paper trail. Just machines that will turn Democratic votes to Republican. Shelley is also the reason Bush is on our ballot.
