Congress Awaits Word From Ney

Washington, D.C. -- Tuesday, in the wake of a criminal scandal, Bob Ney was nowhere to be found inside the Capitol.

The Ohio congressman did not appear on the House floor, and missed most votes last week. He wasn't at his office, and his spokesperson was unreachable by phone.

But even though Ney is lying low, he is still a key figure in the congressional campaign.

The six-term congressman agreed last week to plead guilty to criminal charges and is undergoing alcohol rehabilitation.

Ney is expected to appear in U.S. District Court on Oct. 13. Though still 24 days away, the court appearance is the focal point of the race to replace Ney.

Ney's fellow members of Congress are still awaiting word as to if will resign his position.
