Really though, this is worrisome. If the Bushistas can desensitize America into accepting torture as a means "to end terrorism™," then how long before the police will use torture in an effort "to end crime?"

Just the fact we are even having a "torture debate" in this country is unconscionable.

1. The police are routinely tasering people.

At the drop of a hat for the slightest hesitation in behaviing with total obedience. We've already accepted the militarization of our police force. We have already accepted the abolition of the right to peaceably assemble to protest our grievences. We've already accepted the abolition of our right to be safe from illegal search and seizure of our property. There is every reason to believe that, as the inevitable economic collapse occurs, every outrage being perpetrated against our military prisoners will be visited upon us here within the US.
