Why Kerry Should Pick Clark as VP (warning right wing strategy shown)
Edited on Fri Feb-06-04 09:25 PM by Quixote1818

I don't know if I am allowed to put this up but I think it needs to be discussed. It seems the Right wing is going to go after Kerry as soft on Defense so he needs to put a VP up who will shore Kerry up on any perceived weaknesses. The following I got from a Republican blog as to their strategy to go after Kerry. I hope DU will let this fly. I think it's important

Attacking Kerry

Yep, the GOP is going to attack Kerry as an out-of-touch liberal who's soft on defense. They're just figuring out how to do that and when:
The emerging attack plan is to hammer Kerry as a discredited liberal elitist who has been soft on defense and

1. Clark won't do it

He won't play second fiddle to Kerry.

Beyond this, I don't think that they will get far attacking Kerry on defense. The guy is a fucking war hero for Christ sake. Bush is VERY vulnerable on defense for MANY, MANY reasons.

The "Assachusets" issue WILL hurt Kerry. They will connect Kerry to the recent verdict. They will say this is the type of judges he will appoint.

2. I dont think that will work on him...

I think they are goin got hammer the "boring" label...

I think they are going to play the 9/11 card over and over, and they are going to make it about personality.

I think they will try the "soft on defense" crap but I dont think that is going to do much damage. he should simply laught it off as pathetic politics...

5. The "boring" label sticks
I have talked to Dems who can't stand to listen to him. The attention span of the general public is not the same as that of legislators. Kerry needs to learn that SOON.

3. I don't really see how Clark as VP will help
I think Kerry will just have to deal with this kind of lame-ass attack, and I think Kerry is capabale of doing so.

I think it's OK to post this kind of thing, since you have put it in context, but man - I really want to hurl after reading a sentence starting with "I think Ann Coulter summed it up best..." :puke:

4. IF Kerry is the nominee...
...and the Repukes try to make him into Dukakis, it is going to blow up in their faces. I can see it coming a mile away. Let them try it, it won't work on Kerry.

Again, IF Kerry is the nominee, I think he needs to go with Edwards or Graham at the VP slot. I don't think Clark helps him. I'd float Clark as a potential cabinet member in a hypothetical Kerry Administration.
