Why do the republicons always throw Mc Cain out as the expert....
on war what makes him the expert. Wasn't he a prisoner for most of the time he served?

1. They are making him the poster boy for '08
But the fact that the one person who experienced torture as a POW, now endorses it totally destroys any credibility he has once the crimes of the bu$h regime are brought completely into the light.

4. They also have the other guy..
Hagel who wants to run. But I guess he isn't good enough because he disagrees with bush on a lot of issues.

2. He's one of the few Republicans
Who has actually seen war. Most of them are chickenhawks.

6. at least he showed up for duty
and didn't hide behind his momma's skirts, or have his daddy pull strings to get him out, or have a blister on his ass to get him out of service.

7. Not that I'm an admirer of McCain's
but he was trortured while he was a POW, and that obviously lends him some credibility on the issue.

11. Does that make him the expert on all wars and does that..
mean he is tougher than dems and he should be the talking head for all issues on war where are the dems. Yes. he has some credibility but so do a lot more dems.

3. He'd be 72 in '08. Too damned old for a 4-year commitment at this level.
Just my opinion.

8. He was a POW. He was sleep deprived,
underfed and beaten. Those are things he has admitted publicly. You'd think he'd be a first hand expert on why torture is a bad idea, that it doesn't work and provides only unreliable information.

One wonders if he is acting out his own experience much as an abused child sometimes turns into an abusive parent.

In any case, he seems to have utterly failed to learn the lesson the Viet Cong tried to teach him.

He has become them, at least by proxy.

9. What I would like to know from McCain is if the torture he went...
through made him reveal what they were looking for. Did the Viet Cong find out any information that would be helpful to them against the US.

13. I'[m sure he thinks so
and they might have, but could they tell it from the garbage he made up to get the beating to stop?

I don't think so.

14. That's my point...
I'm sure he told them garbage to get them to stop. He was in captivity for so long I'm sure he didn't know what was going on anyway. I believe he was captured shortly after he arrived in Viet Nam but not entirely sure about that.

12. Here's a guy who had his plane shot down by a missile
from another US Navy aircraft, while he was still on the deck of his own carrier! The burning fuel from his jet detonated the bombs burning on the flight deck and nearly sank the carrier Forrestal. It was the third aircraft he had lost, none yet to enemy fire.
And having survived that only by dumb luck, John McCain failed to take the hint and continued flying until shot down properly by the Vietnamese.
Experienced target drone? Yes, John McCain qualifies. Expert in war? I don't think so.
