DKOS post on Tom Wyka, challenger to an Incumbant "R" in NJ11
Edited on Sun Sep-24-06 09:06 PM by FogerRox

I must disclose that I am Tom's Essex County Field coordinator.
But we are getting some traction, and with a COLBERT taping under his belt,
Tom is making a sprint to November. Anyway, to the KOS post:

As I've said before, I'm now enclosed in the rolling hills of Morris County, New Jersey, where I'm attending Drew University. Morris County is usually a Republican bastion, but times are changing. In recent years the Democrats have been slowly, but steadily improving their county-wide performance, as well as winning local races across the county. One of those looking to turn Morris County blue is Tom Wyka (http://www.tomwyka.com), a Parsippany IT Project Manager and Democratic activist. I spent last Sunday with him and his family, driving across Morris County and connecting with the grassroots.

Tom is on the left... of course......

We drove our way through the rolling hills of Morris County, deep in conversation ("Chattering like bluejays" according to Betty) about politics and family life. The Wyka children were, well, kids, which added to the intimate atmosphere I was in. The Wykas are more than just a candidate and his family; they are a family on a grand adventure, a wonderful trip throughout the land Tom hopes to represent, meeting new people and promoting Tom's vision for America.

Last week I was at the Wyka HQ in Morristown, and met TOm's 4yr old boy, who was eagerly stuffing envelopes for a mailing. Upon finishing his stack of envelopes he asked his Mom, "Mom, I need some more envelopes". This is truly an American family.

After the Long Hill event (there were about 25 guests there, some of them disgruntled Republicans), we drove back towards home (for me, Madison, for the Wykas, Parsipanny). After all, Monday was school for Brielle and Tyler, and the Wykas have to get them on their way. After all, they're average citizens. But as Tom says:

"We are the leaders we've been waiting for."
