Saudis to boost oil production before election in effort to help Bush
NOTE: They did it once and now they're doing it again...
A top Saudi official has assured President Bush that his country will increase oil production to lower gas prices before November to help the president's re-election prospects, according to a broadcast report Sunday.

Washington Post journalist Bob Woodward, discussing his new book on the run-up to the Iraq war on CBS' '60 Minutes,' said Prince Bandar bin Sultan, the Saudi ambassador to the United States and a long-time friend of the Bush family, has given the pledge that "certainly over the summer, or as we get closer to the election, they could increase production several million barrels a day and the price would drop significantly."

3. Your subject is very misleading.
Doesn't mean because they did it before, they'll do it now. There is way less world-wide capacity now. April 2004 link

If you have a current link indicating the Saudis intend to boost production for 2006 elections, I'd like to see it.

8. I was wondering why the Saudis didn't know Bush wasn't running for
anything.

6. The Saudi Family/Bush Family relationship has been a tad too cozy for me
Edited on Mon Sep-25-06 02:16 PM by KansDem
Consider:

*The Saudis helped finance George W's early business ventures in Texas in the 1970s
*When told Osama "intended to strike inside US," George goes on vacation
*George W arranged to fly the bin-Laden family members out of US after 9/11 before US officials can question them
*15 of the 19 9/11 attackers carried Saudi passports, yet George W bombs the hell out of Iraq
*George W has given up on finding Osama (if he ever intended to)

--these observations are only a few.

I think Chris Wallace of FOXNews should be asking George W about these observations, instead of lying about how "fair and balanced" he is...

edited for spelling

10. Um...no, its just your OP seemed to imply that it was happening now
and that your link somehow supported that.
I happen to agree its happening now, but the link does not support that.

12. I agree with your assessment, HOWEVER your link doesnt support it

in the present. I'm only saying posting a two year old link may be misleading and does not help your speculation.

I've said the same thing, btw, that prices will jump after the election:

If repubs win, then the ruse worked and no need to continue it.
If dems win, the prices will jump and they can blame the dems.

try to understand what I'm saying:

I AGREE WITH YOUR SPECULATION, I have the same one, I just don't agree that the link in your OP is all that helpful without clearly labeling it.
