Tucker Carlson: "I'm a little shocked by Clinton's behavior here..."
EXPLAIN to me why this catty little shit still has a TV show?

"SOMEONE lost control in this exchange, but was it Chris Wallace or President Clinton?"

1. Shouldn't he be shocked by Chris Wallace's behavior?
Trying to sandbag him in an interview? (Except he picked on the wrong person - you can't really sandbag Bill Clinton on the facts). Mike Wallace must just be appalled.

24. No, right wingers think Wallace's blend of lies
and ambush "journalism" is the right thing to do.

However, they are very, very surprised a Democrat finally stood up to it and called it what it is: dishonest and disgraceful.

If more Democrats manage to find some backbone, we can get these smarmy little punks with their backs to the wall.

15. I'm not sure I agree.
One of the PR successes of the Republicans is that they don't let any criticism, no matter the size or importance, pass without some form of response or retribution. I think Clinton hitting back, even if it means dignifying the idiots, is important because it doesn't just let it sit uncontested.

Like I said, I'm still not totally sure it was a good thing, but I can understand the logic.

10. It's rare that I want to beat another human being senseless
But Tucker is such a smarmy little wimp that I would just love to smack him around like a punching bag. He's not even the worst of the pundits, but he's the most annoying 'cause he's such a pansy-assed little rodent. That bow tie seals the deal for me. He needs a good beating and he needs one now.

Tucker reminds me of the kid in school that would always kiss the teacher's ass when they were around, but the minute they turned their backs, would start throwing spitballs at you. And when you stood up to defend yourself, he'd start crying and complaining to the teacher.

11. I'm shocked that all the chickenhawks
think they are knowledgeable badasses when behind a microphone. Obviously wallace lost control, he was the host and got run over by the guest and got royally fucked by a big old liberal cock. That occurs when you have no integrity, no professionalism and you work for a company which is nothing but a megaphone for george bush.

37. I think Wallace believed the hype
For years, it has been reactionary dogma that Clinton was a great, big, fat phony. He'd never done anything, never did do anything, and never would do anything. Chris Wallace, too bad for him, believed the story and walked into the interview hoping for a nice hatchet job.

But here's the difference between pro wrestling, which is staged, and real life: Clinton isn't some oafish ne'er-do-well; he was a Rhodes Scholar, and unlike legacy admissions to Yale, that's something you earn. Wallace was ill-prepared for the interview, thinking that all he had to do was his usual bait-and-switch, and he'd so bamboozle Clinton that the hour would be a cakewalk.

Funny things happen on the way to Republican cakewalks, though. You need the willing connivance of your adversary in order for things to go the way you think they're going to go, and Clinton is nobody's fool. By the time Wallace figured that out, and wanted to holler "No mas," Clinton was already in high gear. Wallace wanted to walk away from his questions, but Clinton would have none of it, and handed Wallace his pointy little head on a teeny little platter.

Wallace got just what he deserved, and if Tucker doesn't or can't see that, then he's as big a tool as Wallace is. Hillary should have made him eat his shoes.

12. One Word: Daddy (maybe Mommy too)
Edited on Mon Sep-25-06 03:10 PM by sparosnare
His father, conservative Richard Carlson is a powerful man - longtime anchorman on local news in Los Angeles and San Diego, who later in his career served as Director of Voice of America in Europe, and then as President and CEO of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

Mom is heir to the Swanson food fortune.

He's nothing more than a spoiled rich kid, kinda like Bush.

We need Jon Stewart to skewer him again - that's what got him booted from Crossfire.

That's the only thing that could explain why MSNBC would give him his own show. It's certainly not because he's smart or talented. The only thing he's really qualified to do is flip burgers at McDonald's. :dunce:

He was the first one to say something like "I wanted to take my children and run and hide" when talking about Dean's rip-roaring speech.

Hope to hear that is program is cancelled. He is truly terrible.

17. Because he has a contract, and his show is cheapest in terms of production
costs. They already got rid of all of the excess cost for Rita Cosby by shitcanning her hour-long waste; his show is just him, one asshole, a camera or two, some prerecorded shit from the day's interviews, and a corner of someone else's set. He has a contract that was signed before a bit more sanity set in over in Secaucus, so he has to be paid anyway. Note his lousy timeslot; he's a fucking loser. See too what they are doing to Scarborough; forcing him to cover salacious missing-girl/baby kidnapping shit and play tag-team with Rita.

Had Fucker done well with that dance show, he might have had a prayer of reviving his wastrel career. Now, he's holding on by a frayed thread.

Baby steps, baby steps. I'm grateful that MSNBC continues to highlight Olbermann. They can point to two shows, Fucker and Scarborough, that noone watches to show they are indeed 'balanced.'

31. MSNBC's been hammering this since 3:00 AM today on Imus...
One after another, the talking heads have been stepping up to chronicle the Clinton "meltdown." It usually starts with a "personal impression," followed by an interview with some sort of "expert" in which they analyze the clip like it's the frigging Zapruder film.

God only knows what CNN and Fox are doing with it.

It will be really interesting to see how Olbermann handles this tonight.

38. My post from 3:00 AM:
Imus: "He realizes that if he hadn't been fooling around with the fat girl he could have gone ahead and done it."

"Done it," of course, refers to killing OBL before 9/11. That IS a word-for-word direct quote from Imus.

...and Wallace didn't reply. Not ONCE. I haven't counted how many times Clinton referenced Clarke in the interview, but there wasn't a single time in which Wallace acknowledged that his name had been spoken.
