*GOOD NEWS* POLL - - PA Sen: Casey up by 14 over Sanscrotum (54/40)!

Casey widens lead in Pa. Senate poll

By KIMBERLY HEFLING, Associated Press Writer 37 minutes ago

Democrat Bob Casey appears to have doubled his lead over Sen. Rick Santorum (news, bio, voting record) in Pennsylvania's Senate race, according to a poll released Tuesday.

Casey had a 14-point lead in the Quinnipiac University Poll, with 54 percent of likely voters saying they planned to vote for him compared to 40 percent for Santorum. One percent said they wouldn't vote and 6 percent said they didn't know. Casey had a seven point lead among likely voters in a match up between the two in the same poll on Aug. 15.

On Monday, a state judge said Green Party candidate Carl Romanelli would be removed from the ballot because the party did not have enough valid signatures in its nominating petitions — a move pundits said would help Casey.

In a three-way matchup, Casey led Santorum 51 to 39 percent among likely voters with 4 percent saying they would vote for Romanelli, the poll found. Five percent were undecided.

Casey had a 39 percent favorability rating among voters, with 18 percent viewing him unfavorably, the poll found. Thirty-five percent said they had a favorable view of Santorum, while 40 percent said they had an unfavorable view.

6. Oh, no, Rick!
You're falling behind! I'm afraid that it's time for some tough advice - it's great that you're such a super-Christian, but if you want to win, you're going to have to start spreading some muck, lie about your opponent, and maybe do some underhanded things involving the Green Party candidate who will siphon votes away from the democrats. Don't forget to act all haughty and holier-than-thou too. Voters love confidence. What's that, Rick? You're doing all that?

Never mind. You're screwed.

:spray:

Curiously, does the nickname imply he has no scrotum?

9. And now if we can get rid of Specter
next election - though he is planning to retire - we'll maybe get PA back in the blue column.

Watch though - Specter retires and little Ricky runs again. An ugly scenario.

At least the Santorum enabler is off the ballot.

11. That's not going to happen - Rick is moving to Virginia
He's got a 750k house that he'll need some sort of major salary in order to retain it. I mean, the guy clearly is not going to be able to move his family into that 2-bedroom/1-bathroom house he owns in Penn Hills PA (Santorum has like 6 kids).

Rick is gonna need some money and there will probably be lobbying firms willing to pay Santorum much more than what he has ever earned as a senator. If that happens, Rick will permamently move out of Pennsylvania and take up residency in Virginia

15. Virginia - hmmm
Well, good riddance to bad rubbish.

Though considering that Sanctorum is 'batshit crazy' I'm kinda of hoping that he'll get caught on tape with a French bulldog and that his kids join a polyamorous commune.

10. I'm worried about Casey's plan but I think it's working
He's holding back on the attack of Rick Santorum allowing Rick to shoot himself in the foot with some of those negative ads he's showing. That add with the 'Casey Supporters' behind bars was not only a major turnoff to Pennsylvania voters but was pretty much debunked in every major Pennsylvania newspaper as full of lies.

I'm hoping that with Ed Rendell's surging popularity and pretty much guarenteed win for governor, that he gets out there and starts campaigning with Bob Casey. We want the goal in Pennsylvania not just to vote for Ed or vote for Ed and Bob - but to pull the damn democratic lever and be done with it!

14. Only slightly good news, I fear.
Casey was already well ahead. I'd happily trade five or six points of his lead for a few points in the knife-edges. Still, it's certainly something.
