Condi defends husband: Bush "aggressively pursued al-Qaida before 9/11"

Rice challenges statements by Clinton on terror
Secretary says administration aggressively pursued al-Qaida before 9/11

Updated: 4:35 a.m. MT Sept 26, 2006

NEW YORK - Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice challenged former President Clinton's claim that he did more than many of his conservative critics to pursue al-Qaida, saying in an interview published Tuesday that the Bush administration aggressively pursued the group even before the 9/11 attacks.

"What we did in the eight months was at least as aggressive as what the Clinton administration did in the preceding years," Rice said during a meeting with editors and reporters at the New York Post.

The newspaper published her comments after Clinton appeared on "Fox News Sunday" in a combative interview in which he defended his handling of the threat posed by Osama bin Laden and said he "worked hard" to have the al-Qaida leader killed. "That's the difference in me and some, including all of the right-wingers who are attacking me now," Clinton said in the interview. "They ridiculed me for trying. They had eight months to try, they did not try."

Rice disputed his assessment. "The notion somehow for eight months the Bush administration sat there and didn't do that is just flatly false — and I think the 9/11 commission understood that," she said. Rice also took exception to Clinton's statement that he "left a comprehensive anti-terror strategy" for incoming officials when he left office. "We were not left a comprehensive strategy to fight al-Qaida," she told the newspaper, which is owned by News Corp., the same company that owns Fox News Channel.

2. WTF!
Christ almighty, she's a waste of air.

Lips are moving, she's lying. But complete contradiction of the documented facts? This is a new low.

This is a nice touch, though: "We were not left a comprehensive strategy to fight al-Qaida," she told the newspaper, which is owned by News Corp., the same company that owns Fox News Channel.

3. This is from the woman who couldn't imagine
that someone would take passenger jets and fly them into buildings, even though CNN had printed press reports about Project Bojinka as early as 1996?

This is the same woman who on 9-11 sat with Cheney in his office in the WH, watching the attack go down on TV and did nothing in response until AFTER the Pentagon was attacked.

Give me a break.

4. PROVE IT BITCH
Any plan Clinton gave you was thrown in the shitcan because you motherfuckers were the experts. You knew there would be a terrorist attack just as you wanted so you sat on your neocon asses and let it happen. Then you started scaring the shit out of "conservatives" with talk of a mushroom cloud.

5. Rice is a FUCKING LIAR!
Bush pursued tax cuts for the rich, not Al Qaeda. Al Qaeda was this administrations last priority in the months preceding the 9/11 attacks.

9. Rethink that.
Al qaeda's money source is inherited wealth...Bin Laden's billions.

Now, considering that the bin Laden family has extensive holdings in the United States (funded Georgie's first business, didn't they?), I'm not sure that you can say George was pursuing tax cuts for the rich, not al Qaeda. Sounds to me like al Qaeda had to benefit quite a bit from Georgie's policies. No? Yes?

6. Liar
Name one meeting Bush attended....name one time Bush uttered the words "Al Qaeda" or Osama bin Laden in public before 9/11. If Bush was so diligent, why'd he take attack subs off station in the Persian Gulf and ground the Predator? Why didn't he extract reciprosity for the attack on the USS Cole? Why did he shitcAN THE Hart-Rudman Report?

No, your administration went out of your way to reduce the focus on Al Qaeda...you were too busy getting your war plans completed for Operation Iraqi Liberation (OIL).

Keep spinning Condi, your Faustian deal is coming to an end, soon.

7. HA! not only do we remember the truth
but there's no historical evidence to back any of her delusional assertions.

K/R - you'd think they'd have developed some hard facts to back
her rebuttal. "We worked as hard as they did" is not proof.

8. Richard Clarke presented a plan
to the bushies on December 20, 2000. It detailed many components that a senior bush administration told Time (in retrospect) "amounted to everything we've done since 9-11."

I suppose condi lets bush win when they play golf too.
