Is George W. Bush keeping Daddy out of jail?

http://www.geraldplessner.com/articles/article.cgi?doc=20060925182653

Will George W. Bush have to pardon his father so that George H. W. Bush may never be prosecuted for participating in a criminal conspiracy and violating Federal law in the months before the election of Ronald Wilson Reagan to the presidency and George H. W. Bush to the vice-presidency of the United States?

This question, which brings into question the legitimacy of the Reagan presidency, is much more significant than the details of an Arkansas land deal. They are raised by the facts contained in documents recently discovered by Robert Parry, an outstanding journalist who exposed many of the details of the law-breaking Reagan-Bush years, including the Iran-Contra scandal.

-snip-

The truth is that what happened to Al Gore in 2000 involves many of the same players and tactics involved in the defeat of Jimmy Carter in 1980 --- that a Republican criminal conspiracy assured the victory of Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush for president and vice president of the United States. But like all things Republican, the story wouldn't be complete without a cover up.

-snip-

Shortly after taking office in January 2001, George W. Bush signed an executive order blocking the declassification of all records from the Reagan-Bush years. After September 11, 2001, the president signed an additional document giving former presidents, vice presidents and their heirs power over the release of such documents.

Though the election of Ronald Reagan and George Bush happened more than a quarter-century ago, more than most others it shaped the world we now live in. Voters, especially young voters, need to understand how the first of a number of massive electoral frauds have given Republicans the power they have today.

the article ends with this:

Does the United States of America owe something to the former hostages who suffered for a longer period than necessary for political purposes? Might a public apology be in order?

1. like all things Republican, the story wouldn't be complete w/o a cover-up.
That nicely summarizes the problem with the GOP.

2. The first thing President Gore needs to do
is write an executive order reversing these executive orders.

3. Sorry for Dems, but this is ANOTHER book that Clinton closed FOR Poppy

Bush.

This issue, IranContra, BCCI and Iraqgate should have exposed and taken down BushInc for generations to come. But Clinton closed the books. And his explanation why that he put forth in his book, is C.R.A.P.

Some Dem lawmakers and reporters risked their careers and their lives to investigate and expose those criminal actions.

5. Lawrence Walsh had the evidence that Bush1 manipulated the hostage

situation in Iran for them to keep the hostages longer, even as Carter was negotiating for them to be released.

Bush promised them arms and other favors to hold them till after the election.

When Clinton took office he claims in his book that he wanted Poppy to have a "peaceful retirement" because of his years of service to the country.

So, Walsh was discouraged from pursuing anymore criminal acts of Bush1 and urged to bring matters to a close so the country could move on. Nice, eh?

7. I usually find motives to be transparent, but I can't
figure out the Clinton-Bush family relationship. It makes me irritable, uncomfortable, squeamish, angry and extremely curious while at the same time I don't want to know because I believe I'm not going to like the truth. I would normally think that Clinton is a very forgiving man who is driven by progressive humanity. But, I don't know. His track says something else.

8. My take is that he just plain old got snookered into it. I heard at the
time that it was Greenspan who talked him into it, saying the world economy would collapse if the truth about BCCI was revealed.

That may have been true, but it still would have been a temporaray thing that could be corrected over time. What BushInc has wrought on this world we may never see a turnaround in our lifetime.

12. The illegal wars in Central and South America were another coverup that
needed exposure. "Peaceful retirement" for Poppy, my ass.

6. Nice article, but it barely scratches the surface of criminal acts
perpetrated and assisted by the Corporate cabal. Unfortunately for us, there were several major players from our side of the isle, so it is extremely unlikely that anything will ever be said. They'll keep it hidden and continue to lie about it until long after we're dead.

9. Except not all Dems are into covering up. Some believe in open government.
And I believe in open government Democrats.

13. W would throw Poppy under a bus if he thought it would help help him.
I really doubt that Little Boots is covering for Daddy--it's just not something he would do.
