They betray the Constitution and call us traitors. They break the law and suggest that WE are the criminals. They pursue policies that are clearly insane, yet call us deluded. They treat the rest of the world with callous disregard, suggest that torture is somehow an acceptable policy, and behave as if this is a reasonable attitude.
Their "leader" referred to himself as a "uniter, not a divider." Sure. Nothing divisive here. He's gone so far as suggesting that we are somehow naive because we think their strategy to fight the "war on terror" is terribly wrong-headed and guaranteed to escalate the situation rather than diminish the threat we face.
Even IF his approval rating is hovering around 40%, as some claim it is, this means that a sizable majority of Americans believe he's screwing the pooch.
No division there.
Within the next couple of months, the Republicans are going to try to make us forget that they've supported EVERY ONE of his insane policy decisions. Yet, somehow, they are STILL supporting such things as torture and illegal wiretapping.
Yes, they're betraying everything this country stands for, selling us out to the highest bidder, and pretending that WE are the traitors.
Pretty slick, don't you think?
Assuming they won't succeed in stealing the elections this November, there will be those in Congress who will try to sweep it all under the rug. In the interest of "unity" some will want to pretend none of this has happened, or that it's nowhere near as big a deal as we're trying to make it.
Well, they're wrong. If we let it disappear the same way that the sins of those Republican administrations that came before it were allowed to do, we'll go through it again. And again.
It's different this time. It has to be.
It's time to put an end to this shit. It's time to take the battle to the traitors themselves. No quarter.
The deceptions won't stand. Not this time.
No matter how much they'd like us to, we won't forget. Nor will we allow the rest of America to forget.
Our future as a nation, and the human race itself, will ride upon it. If we fail to hold them accountable and reverse the effects of their worst excesses, it may all come to an end.
Our children deserve better.
