In all the hollering Bill Clinton started when he showed his roughneck followers how to fight dirty in his interview with Chris Wallace, there has been some conspicuous trifling with the facts by FOBs, friends of Bill, including one from his best friend — his wife — who already has a campaign chair for her presidential campaign when she hasn't even announced she is actually running. Look at a couple quotes, and you decide.

Quote No. 1, Hillary Clinton today:

"I'm certain, if my husband and his national security team had been shown a classified report entitled, 'Bin Laden Determined To Attack Inside the United States' he would have taken it more seriously than history suggests it was taken by our current president and his national security team."

Well, he was shown that.

Quote No. 2, a presidential daily brief sent to president Bill Clinton December 4, 1998, just about three years before bin Laden attacked on 9/11:

"Bin Laden and his allies are preparing attacks in the U.S., including aircraft hijacking..."

Will Hillary now correct the record and apologize for misstating the facts? No, she won't. That's because the Democrats have figured it out. The wussiness of the Gore campaign and the Kerry campaign are now officially out. We're back to the old days of brass-knuckle Clinton fighters. Damn the facts, just come out slugging. Politics under Clinton rules is offense, offense, offense. Don't get caught up in the details of what is true and what is not. Just get up a good head of steam, turn purple with rage and attack. Chris Wallace is the wrong guy to go after. He's a straight arrow who is a veteran of both NBC News and ABC News, yet for the offense of a question he is under the slimiest of attacks. It is an outrage, but it has now been sanctioned as perfectly OK in this bare-knuckles brawl designed to fire up Democrat voters and put historians on notice that Bill Clinton will fight any judgment that he was lacking in his war against bin Laden.

And who is the devil these fightin' Dems want to go after? FOX News, of all things. Barbara Boxer, the esteemed senator of California, was rude to Jane Skinner on the air today. Yesterday, Lanny Davis felt he had to attack me, personally, to defend Bill Clinton. Hey, I can take it. FOX can take it. The public should just be warned. Fox has all of their talking heads pushing this full-time. "Clinton Goes Wild." Last night on Scarborough Country. Joe "I Killed My Intern And Got Away With It" Scarborough had a really thorough Swift Boating session.

That's really all that Karl Rove's got. Hammer Clinton, which allows Clinton and the Dems to come back with facts regarding what Bush did (or did not) do to prevent 9/11. That's going to be one of the segments on Olbermann's show tonight.

When Clinton got a memo saying "Bin Laden and his allies are preparing attacks in the U.S., including aircraft hijacking..." he threw all the weight of the federal law enforcement agencies behind stopping it, and he did stop it.

In contrast, when Bush* received a memo saying "bin Laden determined to attack within the United States" he alerted no one and continued his month long vacation.
