There is a ton of scientific evidence available on the horrors this crap inflicts through a simple googling.

I would like to add one other point. X-rays. One of the most benign forms of radiation. Any pregnant woman having an X-ray must cover the unborn with a lead apron to prevent horrible disfigurement, developmental problems, cancers, and a billion other horrible things that happen when your DNA gets a blast of radiation...
