0251, Interrogator/Debriefer
Summary. MOS 0251, Interrogator/Debriefers are created by lateral move from any MOS. They collect information/intelligence from human sources by means of interrogation, debriefing, and screening. They translate and exploit foreign language documents and recordings. In addition to knowing a foreign country's language, they are familiar with the area and the customs and traditions of its peoples. Typical duties are screening and interrogation of enemy POWs, line crossers, refugees, and other displaced persons, exploiting foreign language documents, and participating in noncombatant evacuation operations(NEO). This MOS will be assigned and voided only by the CMC (MM).
Requirements/Prerequisites
(1) GT score of 100or higher and a DLAB score, of 100 (DLAB waiverable to 90, if the Marine meets all other prerequisites). Marines who can meet the minimum standard DLPT score for a language may be excluded from the DLAB requirement.
(2) Must be a male corporal or sergeant of any MOS.
(3) Eligible for access to sensitive compartmented information predicated upon a Single Scope Background Investigation. Application for the Single Scope Background Investigation must be submitted prior to attendance of the MAGTF Interrogation of Prisoners of WAR (IPW) Course at NMITC, Dam Neck, VA.
(4) Complete the MAGTF IPW Course at NMITC, Dam Neck, VA, and if not a native linguist, a course of language instruction at the Defense Language Institute. Language proficiency and other prerequisites are outlined in MCO 3876.1.
(5) Marine Corps Reservists without previous active duty intelligence experience who successfully complete Phases I, II, and III of the Interrogation of Prisoners of War Reserve Course, NMITC, Dam Neck, VA, will be awarded MOS 0251 as an additional MOS only. MOS 0251 will be granted to reservists as a primary MOS after completing Phases I, II, and III of the Interrogation of Prisoners of War Reserve Course, NMITC. Dam Neck, VA, and serving 4 years in an 0251 billet within the Selected Marine Corps Reserve.
(6) Complete a course of language instruction at the Defense Language Institute , Monterey, CA. Language proficiency and other prerequisites are outline in MCO 3876.1.
(7) Must be a U.S. citizen.
(8) Must be interviewed by a screening board of ITT personnel IAW MCO 3876.1.
(9) Must display command of the English language through both oral and written communication.
