Thanks to all Democratic lawmakers who voted against the Torture Bill

Oops! I meant Detainee Bill! As usual, I am happy to see my old Congressman Jim McDermott voting against this Neocon piece of tripe. My current Congressperson Cathy McMorris, ever the Bush shill that she is, voted for the thing! It may have passed but the Democrats put up a good fight. I also should mention two kudos to Senators Maria Cantwell and Patty Murray for being clear-thinking and going against Bush.

I know we lost but I felt the need to give a DU salute to those Democrats who went up against this thing.

1. My own Congressional delegation did pretty well.

No Massachusetts Congressman or Senator voted for the right to torture prisoners or the right to keep someone in jail forever without even a charge.

It would have been better if Marty Meehan was present for the vote. I have no idea what could be more important than showing up to vote against this abomination, but he didn't vote. The other 11 Congressional delegates all voted no on whether or not to rape the US Constitution. I salute them for that.
