Pollster: Gore won in 2000, media call gave election to Bush
(And he was fired by Gallup for saying so.)

Pollster: Bush 2000 win due to media calling race
September 28, 2006

David Moore's book, "How to Steal an Election," argues Al Gore rightfully won the presidency.
Moore, a former University of New Hampshire professor, said he knows his premise is a "hard sell" and insists the book is not partisan.
His former bosses -- the Gallup Poll -- disagreed and fired him after he told them about the book last spring, he said.

1. I remember how the little NPR affiliate afternoon talk lady
in LA was all about, "ahh, why don't they just give up & let bush have it already!!" it was that Kitty woman who they later gave the boot.

2. what a damning story on bush
but I guess more so on the networks, right?! they did call it for him, why those established networks let FOX NEWS persuade them when they were only around a few years and SOMEONE at the networks would hopefully have known that bush's cousin was working for them, and even if not the case, I would've thought that the big guys (rather, brokaw, jennings) would've said, "are we calling this just because fox did, because florida seems to close to call and surely will be challenged, I'm refusing to call this if we're right"

I dunno... just such a f'ng embarrassment. the whole thing... we've put up with this sob for 6 years now, and look at the evil things he's done. :(

3. There is a story about how the top guy at NBC
Edited on Fri Sep-29-06 12:31 AM by Art_from_Ark
put a lot of pressure on the election analyst to call the election for bu$h:

"According to Waxman's sources, Welch spent much of the night at NBC's decision
desk, where election returns were projected.

Among their allegations:

* Welch and other visitors "distracted" NBC News Director of Elections Sheldon R.
Gawiser with repeated questions about how his projection decisions were made.

* Welch had access to raw election data that weren't available to news anchors,
writers, producers or other on-air reporters.

* After instruction about reading the data, Welch later concluded that Bush had won
Florida, and shared his analysis with Gawiser. Witnesses told Waxman that "at
almost the same time, John Ellis--George W. Bush's cousin and Fox News' senior
decision desk official--called both the Florida and the national election for George W.
Bush. Immediately after this announcement, Mr. Welch was observed standing behind
Dr. Gawiser with his hand on his shoulder, asking why NBC was not also calling the
election for Bush."

According to Waxman's sources, "shortly after this," Gawiser called the election for
Bush. A similar call was made by all major television news outlets within minutes. "

6. The only silver lining, I believe those days are coming to an end.

I believe little by little the people are waking up to what's been perpetrated on them by our so called "mass corporate media fourth estate guardian watchdogs for democracy". I just hope it comes soon enough to save our nation and the planet in general from catastrophic collapse.

Edit for P.S. Welcome to D.U jtrockville

4. The New Thing
I think the Bush people have always been able to spring effective "surprises" on people, I think theyre very original in their tactics. study of this election proves it. By the time people figure out what theyve done they slip to Standard Tactic IIGb3: Claim its now old news and settled long ago. This works EVERY time, the media just dutifully stenographs it. Followup questions and investigations? A relic of Clinton Days.
They were much more focused on ths one than Gore and the Dems who were stupidly standing around being all aw shucks polite. The Repubs were agro over this from the very start while the Dems just got over rode. They made Gore look like a Rube--we can blame our own leaders for this as much as theirs. The Repubs had their paid demonstrators on site, Fox helping out here too, and it was THEIR message of victory that was played over and over again. They grabbed this one away but they never could have done it without media help-- and that was their surprise tactic--no one quite knew then how well the RWNM was in place.
They stole the 2d one too, but with a NEW tactic--Swiftboating. They always come up with something new and theyre always ahead of us because they think criminally better than us.
