Civil war? Iraq is in anarchy, chaos. Falling into civil war?
Why don't we just call it what it is? In a civil war there would be better organization, planning, and dare I say, at least the appearance of someone in control of the warring sides.

I was watching the piece on CNN about the grandmother shot in the street near her home. Teenagers did this. It was reported that they didn't seem to be associated with any known group. Dead bodies of the tortured are found every day. Saddam's trial is in virtual lock down from a continuous stream of disruption. American contractors have run amuck. Government services are sporadic to the point of being nonexistent. Our "efforts" are obviously not working. Our military is undermanned and undermined by it's civilian leadership. All of this is the result of prideful, arrogant willfulness fueled by selfishness, ignorance, and incompetence.

I realize that many DUers may take exception to my use of the term anarchy, but I think you will agree on the word "chaos". It is a Hobbsian nightmare. I don't think we need Woodward's book to tell us that, but perhaps, like H2Oman wrote earlier today this will get a better discussion going on in the public square where a lot of the clueless and willfully, indulgently misinformed hang out. It is being discussed on CNN right now...let's hope they keep it up.

1. Yet The Media Was SHOCKED At Looting In New Orleans
People whose lives were devastated in New Orleans looted some stores, and everyone here was all freaked out. OH NO!!! POOR PEOPLE RIOTING.

In Iraq, they're not only Rioting, but they're basically killing each other.

But you won't hear about it from anyone here. They've got their collective heads up their asses.

3. This whole mess is probably documented in great detail
in top secret reports that we won't see for 50 years. They know that it's an impossible situation & they don't know what to do about it.

5. They can't admit that it is an impossible situation. George would implode.
Even if someone steps in and "changes course", George, Rice, Cheney and Rumsfeld will never be capable of accepting responsibility for this disaster. I think you have a point about everything not coming out, too many powerful people would take the heat.

4. I agree. Iraq is in Civil War.
6,600 Iraqi's killed in two months? I call this WAR. Rumsfeld stated they could not forsee the strength of the insurgency. I find this difficult to believe since he served under Bush I, who knew that Iraq would fall into civil war were he to invade Baghdad and oust Hussein.

6. I've figured out the * admin's strategy:
They're just going to wait until the insurgents and murderers get tired. That's why they're trying to whip them up into such a frenzy.
