At Risk Of Sounding Negative - We're Going To Lose In November.....
in light of everything that has been going wrong for * in the last couple of weeks - he has become (in my mind) sort of an Energizer Bunny. With all the negative press it appears that he and his machine keeps steamrolling over Congress and the Media to get his way. Given all of this and the lack of any real push-back from the Dems or from the American people (really? they approve of torture)I believe that *CO feels that they will maintain their control of Congress (both House and Senate)come November.

Any thoughts?

3. I believe you are wrong

There are too many close elections for us to not win any of them and at least close the gap in Congress. I would be shocked if we don't win back the house. You need to check out some election sites like swing state project and cqpolitics. They have an "oh my God, I can't believe this race is so close" race every day. I understand the pessimism, but I think we will really pull some surprises this year.

4. Sure We'll Win Some Seats Both In The House & Senate - But.....
I concerned that they will steal enough to keep them in power - but not that many so they can make it look like we still have a two party system.

6. Yes, let's all stay home and not vote at all.
Why bother? It is futile. The Republicans will stay in power forever so we might as well just accept it.

:sarcasm:

9. Crazy
All this defeatist talk. The House Is withen our gasp.and the Senate Is In play.Bush has been trying to get them rubberstamp a lot.We will always lose If we always think we are going to lose and say our votes don't count. Our trouble Is can the Dino's be kept In line.ALso If Lieberman wins In Connecticut, and his vote decides who controls the Senate we cannot count on him to vote our way.

12. Great point....
I think the swing voters are just not saying anything for "fear" of sounding "unpatriotic" in such a politically correct environment...oy.

We have every reason to remain optimistic....or....I'll see ya in Detainment Camp :hi:

Yep!
I think you will lose also, in fact I intend to help by dragging everyone I know and encounter to the polls to insure it.

15. Depends on your definition of lose....
I think it is a 50-50 proposition that we will take back either House...

However I do believe we will make significant gains in both....

And will be set up well for 2008...

18. Do making gains in the Congress count for anything?
I'm not an American, but my impression was that the entire Congress was reelected every two years, anyhow?

With the senate, though, it's obvious that retaking it isn't all that matters. The difference between 50 and 51 seats is more than between 49 and 50 or 51 and 52, but what matters is numbers and not just win/lose, clearly.

19. You are technically correct...
All members of the House of Representatives is up every two years. But there are such advantages built in for incumbents that there is really very little turnover. It is quite difficult to make significant gains. This year may be different.

As to the Senate, the rules give more power to the minority party than in the house. So the more Democrats the better, even if it is not a majority. The majority still sets the agenda and controls the flow of legislation, but the minority, if united, can put the brakes on quite a bit.
