3. Mostly about Abramhoff, Mehlmann and others
receiving favors of tickets, meals and special consideration. For instance, getting rid of personnel who was in the way of favorable decisions. Rove was not accused, but Waxman inferred Mehlmann might have worked closely with the group to get what they wanted in regard to the Mariana Islands. Of course, it had already been announced that there were 485 or so contacts. I was hoping they would get into more about the island situation, but Waxman said it would be investigated after the election. I got the impression he wanted to get it out into the news, since there would be no action before November. I don't know why they used the word "sordid" except for titillation. Of course, we suspect there has to be more...just not going to come out. Isn't this also in relation to the restaurant/call-girl stories of a few months ago?
