In light of the torture vote
I'm working on a LTTE. Comments?

Our elected officials all swore an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. With the passage of the anti-American Military Commissions Act, 65 senators, including our own Senator Nelson, failed to uphold that oath. This act not only permits the President to circumvent the Geneva Conventions, it also allows our government to seize American citizens as enemy combatants, and imprison them without trial. The Consitution protects us against these very actions. In addition, it suspends Habeas Corpus (unlawful restraint), something explicitly stated in the Constitution that "...shall not be suspended.."

Thomas Jefferson, in a letter to Thomas Paine, said: "I consider as the only anchor ever yet imagined by man, by which a government can be held to the principles of its constitution." Our representatives and the president have ignored their oaths, and failed Thomas Jefferson, in passing this legislation. They have shown that they are weak on freedom.

3. Oh, certainly.
It must be fought as it is very important. I just hope we don;t get sidetracked onto so many acillary issue before the election. This is a preaching to the choir issue.
