Good Evening fellow DU members. My name is Brad.M you may know me as Daylin Byak, part moderator of the topic forum and the state/county forum. I'm here not as a mod or as a board member but as your friend and confiedant, i'm here to talk to you about the november mid-term elections.

Now I know alot of you hate the Democratic party for there votes on such bills for torture and illegal wiretapping and you don't like there spineless but I promise you this, we will prevail, we will take back the house and maybe the Senate and I promise you this when that happens, changes will be made and america will be back on the track.

You have to keep the faith, it's a must. The Party believe it or not has a plan, a plan to change america which includes raising the mininum wage, finding a solution to end the war in Iraq, protecting national security, investigating gas gouging and so forth but that plan can't go into effect unless the Democrats get back into power but they don't get into power unless you vote them into power, america's change starts with you my friend.

Listen I know your frusrtate with those southern, blue dog and DLC Democrats that never support the party line when it needs to be supported. Well let me tell you something those Democrats are in the minority and will always be in the minority of the party wing. Come January of 2007 Progressive Democrats will be running the show, For example instead of Bushbot Repuke Jim Sensenbrenner as judicary chairman you'll see the great John Conyers, wouldn't that be nice. Like I said before progressive Democrats like Conyers, Jim McDermott, George Miller and Jim McGovern running the show,and conservative Democrats like Henry Cuellar, Collin Peterson and John Barrow(if he survives re-election) would be nothing in our new majority.

Please i'm beggin you come the November elections don't turn on your Democratic Congressman because you didn't like how he voted on this bill or that bill and vote Green or god forbid Republican, if you don't like him take your anger out at him at the primaries but come november we all need to show solidarity and vote blue in 2006, it's the only way to get america back on the right track.

To quote a line from a song by pianist Bruce Hornsby: "There's gonna ba some changes made."

I'll show up and vote Dem down the line in November, but I have a question for you. You mention "raising the minimum wage" first in the plan so I'll assume that you can shed some light as to why it is actually required. What is it about the American system that requires the force of the state to ensure that full-time working people can provide for their very basic needs for survival? In light of Fed-induced inflation, what kind of life will $8.00 an hour ($16,000/yr) provide for a working family? Will they be able to send their kids to college where tuitions are climbing double digits per annum? Will they be able to provide for themselves when their bodies can work no more and SS, medicare and other "saffety nets" are bankrupt (assuming an $8 trillion deficit is truly abnormally large, as we claim). Will they be able to afford families? Thanks for your and others' responses.

3. Well not everybody can get a good job

Because of either work ethic or lack of education alot of people wind up not having the greatest job and end up making a living as a cashier at target for example. Because of that we need to make sure those people are taking care of, making arrangements to have them earn a decent wage that's more that $5.15/hr.

5. But not everyone can be a physicist no matter what educational

opportunities exist. And even if they could we'd still need cashiers at Target. I appreciate and share your emphathy, but sometimes I just wonder why, if this system is to be defended with our lives abroad, why it requires the use of force to make sure that employers provide enough so that people can merely survive. I got my absentee ballot today. I just hope no major surprises erupt to throw the Democrats off track. I have to say that the Republicans have presented us with quite a bit of "news" to digest in this week alone. Imagine what's yet to come and who's yet to be exposed?

MAN thats worth the price of admission right there. 72 yrs old & he blogs...... Conyers gets it, the DSM, E-voting, the whole 9 yards, Conyers gets it.
