Is Corkers Campaign About To Implode????
Trouble Campaign In Tennessee: GOP Candidate Corker Fires Campaign Manager...

Bob Corker, the Republican candidate for the Tennessee Senate seat currently held by Bill Frist, made drastic changes to his campaign leadership 39 days before the midterm elections. The DSCC is reporting that Corker fired his campaign manager and hired a new media consultant who has previously worked for President Bush and Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger of California.

1. Oh, I hope so. Tennessee GOP is falling apart! Yeaaaay!

I ran for County Mayor here in East TN in August and got beat (63%-37%) by a GOP "party loyalist". He's part of our "good-old boy" network here.

He has tried to shut down access to all county records, despite Tennessee's Open Records laws. A person has to make a request, fill out a form, identify exactly what they want to look at, show up to view it at the assigned time, pay $25 per hour for staff handling the request, getting the record, and blocking out all confidential information.

I didn't go to the first couple of meetings (I usually attend them) after he was sworn in. He announced this, a few concerned citizens started raising a fuss about it, it's all over the newspapers here, in Knoxville, in Nashville, in Memphis and has even been in quite a few editorials in these and other papers. The citizens filed suit against the county and against him personally. He's standing firm so far, but I don't think he's going to win this win.

And the beauty of it is, he's doing himself in. Unfortunately we're all paying for it while important county issues don't get addressed, but maybe this is what it takes for people to see what they're electing and decide to change their mind.

Also, the Chair of the GOP Women's Committee was recently indicted for voting fraud for intentionally voting in a precinct she didn't live in. The winner in that race won by one vote. Anyway, she's in big trouble.

I love it. They're all dirty!

11. I just love watching them squirm!
Especially listening to normally cocky, arrogant, GOP co-workers struggle to talk politics or just clam up altogether! Hard to tell if any minds or hearts are being changed, but it is obvious that they are not happy and they are worried.

Of course the GOP's increasing desparation will only mean they will dig even deeper into their bag of dirty tricks this time around. Let's just hope enough people see their lies and deceipt for what they are.

Bring on the implosion!

3. God I hope so!!!
IMHO, Ford has run a smart, clean campaign so far, stood up to Repug attacks, and presented a very sharp compeling alternative to Corker. So far ol' Bob has come across like he's struggling to find a message to set him apart form Ford, and everytime he tries to defend himself from criticism, he sounds like he's whining, "there picking on me!" Ford is too conservative to get many Dem votes in most any blue state, but he's just the ticket for red-state Tennessee. He's given a lot of die-hard GOP supporters reason to pause and think before they vote, and hopefully enough of them will slide just a little bit to the left and help make Tennessee blue come November.

9. TN started using new machines this year, but not Diebold.
I'm not sure which company makes them, or what kind of reputation/track-record they have, but from what I have heard they are far more tamper-resistant than the Diebold models. I won't rest easy unless Ford builds a really big lead, which is probably not going to happen. But I am hopeful that if the race stays tight, "underdog" Ford will be perceived as exceeding expectations, while Corker will be perceived as desparate to keep Tennessee red.

Stay tuned!
