Mark Foley recently introduced two bills to protect children on the Internet: The Child Modeling Exploitation Prevention Act and the Child Obscenity and Pornography Prevention Act. These two pieces of legislation are geared to help update the laws of the United States as they relate to the Internet.
The Child Modeling Exploitation Prevention Act would ban adults from selling child erotica that exploit children who are 13 and 14 and as young as 4, 5 and 6 years old. These sites, often billed as "modeling sites," are geared towards pedophiles and are really softcore child porn sites with children dressed scantily and posing in sexually suggestive ways wearing next to nothing.
The Child Obscenity and Pornography Prevention Act tightens the definitions of child pornography and assures that pedophiles can still be prosecuted even if it is not known whether the materials they are viewing are real photographs or virtual composed images.
With the new technology on the Internet, pedophiles are turning to graphically altered images of child pornography to skirt the law. This bill will ensure that it will be illegal to take, distribute, or possess pictures of children engaged in sexual behavior, whether real or virtually altered.
Of course its been wiped already from the original site.
