Wes with Joe Sestak last night and someone asked him about 2008...He said it was a nice question but now that it was asked, he wanted everyone to forget about it and focus on 2006 and getting people like Sestak elected....He knows how important it is to get back at least one house of Congress this year and until we do that, he's not even going to think about 2008...I know there are other 2008 hopefuls who seem to be focused on 2006 only so much as it will help them in '08...but Wes is not one of those. You only need to see him speak about the importance of the elections this year to know that. For him, it's about country before personal ambitions...and he's REALLY worred about the future of this country....as well we all should be.

His travels for Democrats have been incredible! No other Democrat, bar none, has pounded the pavement, put in the miles (and miles and miles) to turn this country around more than General Clark. And Kyl, in a seeming shift from an administration stance that has downplayed a need for more soldiers, has acknowledged that Iraq will require more troops to achieve victory.

Top national political analysts disagree over whether Iraq will now become the primary issue as the election nears and Democrats step up efforts in dozens of contested races to recapture the House and Senate.

Chuck Todd, editor in chief of the Washington, D.C., political journal Hotline, thinks Democrats like Pederson will press the Iraq issue in the closing weeks of the campaign. "You don't want to throw out your best issue in September only to see the other side beat it back," he said.

Stu Rothenberg of the Rothenberg Political Report said Iraq is the national election's "800-pound elephant in the bedroom." But he predicts that many candidates, both Democrats and Republicans, will continue to avoid it as a central issue. Democrats are split over the war, he said. I noted that CBS had a story on the Murtha Rally, in where they initially "oops" forgot to mention Wes Clark's name although the quoted him. This morning, his name had been added to the text! What was that about? :wtf:
