If you're happy with the DLC..
Then you may want to go back.

But if you are sick and tired of the DLC, DNC, "Pink Tutu" wearing, "Roll over and play dead", sucking at the corporate teat Democrats, then you may want to respond.

This is our chance to tell the establishment just how we feel about how they have led the party the last few years.

Come November, we'll have no choice but to vote for the one who they decide is going up against *.

Using your primary vote you can send them a message. Vote for one of the three newcomers. Vote for a candidate that is not beholden to the Above Ground establishment. Vote to send a message telling them you don't like being ground under by the failing leadership. Let it be known by your vote, you are NOT happy.

1. Well...we're in a bind, aren't we....?
We can either keep the monkey in the WH or vote in what the
"higher ups" have decided is the ideal candidate that will "represent"
us...
Two parties...xerox copies of each other... This is what concerns
me...

3. Not "xerox" copies...
...not by a longshot. Granted, the rape of the Dems by the corporations has resulted in the birth of a monster. A monster that will, if allowed to reach maturity, kill democracy.

Now is a good chance to tell them to eliminate that monster.

2. They don't care as long as they are in power. We have to
destroy all of DINNO's before we can get our party back. After this election when their designated loser losses and the democratic party is driven into third party status perhaps people will wake up. I do believe however it will be to late and our country will be completely destroyed.

5. I'm not saying we're gonna lose...
....I think whoever goes up against * will win. To win will require the party to become united in Novemeber. We must unite, come November.

But right now is the time to let them know that you are NOT happy with the way things are headed.

In November it is ABB. And we will win.

9. How are you gonna destroy all the DINOs when elephants rule?
This has to be a multi-step plan. First, take back the White House and as much of the Senate and House as possible this year, using the most viable candidates on the ground. Then, start running grass roots candidates (maybe some Anti-ABB DUers could volunteer) to challenge the status quo through Internet activism and fund raising. Then once we have a majority in Congress change the rules which allow corporate interests to buy political influence. This reform process is not something that can be done overnight, if it is to succeed.

4. I'm for the guy who pulled leftward while other DLCers like Dean pulled
Edited on Sat Feb-07-04 12:07 PM by blm
to the right.

Thankfully Kerry was on the left and kept the party and the DLC from moving too far right as Dean would have taken them with his longheld corporatist centrism.

I'm happy that Kerry FOUGHT the establishment in important battles like BCCI and sided with the environment, labor and small businesses over the corporate interests.

8. Not opinion. It's the reality of their records.
I base my opinion on real records of people WHILE they are in power and not what they say while seeking more power.

Dean's corporatist and centrist record is apparent in his governance.

Kerry's very high ratings with environmental and labor groups is also apparent.

10. I tend to agree with you
Too many Democrats are compromised in too many ways. The DLC influence is corporate influence. There just isn't any gray area here at all.

11. wow! ANOTHER anti-DLC thread
Edited on Sat Feb-07-04 12:34 PM by wyldwolf
What do you mean "If you're happy with the DLC..then you may want to go back?"

Back to the Clinton way of doing things?

Hell yeah, I want to go back!

One day when I'm feeling particulary ornery I'm going to start the big anti-far lefty anti-green thread and watch all the heads spin!

Proud to be a Clinton DLC democrat!

13. I think they meant back, like hit the back button and avoid the thread
It's not like you're saying anything to explain your reasoning behind backing the pro-corporate candidate.

Just ranting about the presence of anti-DLC threads isn't adding to the discussion.

14. Well, of course, no one has explained their reasoning for...
not wanting to back a winner but rather wanting to cling to some idealogical purity.

As though pro-corporate candidates (of which they ALL are) are bad things.

I know, I know, I just don't get "it."

27. Some facts:
Under the leadership of the DLC, the Democratic Party has lost control of not only the US Senate, but also the US House, where we held a majority for nearly 40 years.

Under the DLC, only Al Gore won a majority of the popular vote-- Clinton NEVER did. Were it not for Ross Perot peeling off Republican votes, Bill Clinton would not have won in 1992.

Since the DLC take-over of leadership in 1992, we have lost more governors races AND more state legislatures and assemblies.

Since 1992, our "Democratic" presidents have signed into law more anti-labor legislation than previous 20th century Democratic presidents COMBINED.

In eight years in office, Bill Clinton intervened militarily in as many countries as did Reagan/Bush in twelve years.

Even arch-conservative Richard M. Nixon governed more progressively than Clinton. Nixon created the EPA, and signed the Clean Water Act and Clean Air Act into law. Clinton, OTOH, did nothing to cut vehicle emissions during his terms. As a matter of fact, emission standards were higher in 1987 than they were in 2000.

Also, while Nixon expanded welfare programs, Clinton cut them, seeking to end "welfare as we know it".

Nixon actually helped reform the healthcare system in this country by allowing the creation of HMOs. Clinton, OTOH, presented a half-baked "national health care" plan that would have directed even more money into the coffers of private for-profit insurance companies.

These are the facts. The policies of the DLC are barely "Democratic". Thankfully people are waking up to this.

That message should be heard loud and clear. So far it's building from a whisper, but slowly.

17. I prefer the newcomers...
...ya know, like the one's who haven't been in DC for long, if at all.

It's not a point of voting for a winner...the point is that you can send a message to the Powers That Be, you do not like how they have handled their positions. You can only do this in the primary. In November, we are all gonna happily vote for whoever the Dem candidate is. The time is now to send your message of being unhappy.
