it's time for Clark and Edwards to cut a deal
As long as both of these two men remain in the race the southern vote is being split, allowing Kerry to prevail. One of them should bow out and endorse the other, so that there will be only one southern candidate in the race. On March 9th texas, mississippi, louisiana and florida will all be voting. If there is only one southern candidate in the race at that time, he could sweep those states.

1. But who will make the decision?
I think they should both see how strong they will be in the next few weeks. The strong one goes on. The other runs for VP. Or the strong one runs for VP. Who knows. They are both good. We are fortunate that we have 3 or 4 great candidates for president and a solid democratic base of committed people who are anxious to defeat bush. I am happy to be living in the US again.

Clark's candidacy.

This is per our local SF Clark captain, but I thought (and he acted like) it was just common knowledge.

9. How do you come to this conclusion?
And why are you taking the word of a Clark captain on this? Every candidate (and his supporters) tries to portray himself as the outsider who challenges the party establishment.

11. I though he meant EDWARDS knifed Clark in the back.
I must have misunderstood his post.

6. I think Edwards would rather Kerry win than have Clark win
I recall reading that if Edwards had failed to win South Carolina, he would have dropped out and endorsed Kerry. I can't imagine we he would change his mind in favor of Clark.

12. Why?
Edited on Sat Feb-07-04 04:44 PM by Padraig18
Edwards seems to be MUCH more restrained in his attacks on Clark than vice-versa, it seems to me, and I'm not supporting either one of them at this point.

13. Heres why. . .
Well recently Clark has attacked Edwards voting record for veterans health benefits. And Edwards has been defending himself on his site.
It has also been war here at DU for the past 2 days against Clark and Edwards supporters.

15. I've noticed that.
It reminds me of fetal sharks eating each other, vying to be the last viable fetus. I think Clark has been the one 'throwing elbows', frankly.

18. I hope so, too.
They're both fine candidates, and I would hope they would focus on stopping Sen. Kerry, rather than attacking each other. We NEED a nominee who is NOT JFK, IMO.

14. I agree that would rule, but unfortunatly Edwards is better friends w/ JK
and they have that Hugh Shelton rift, resulting in a less than close relationship
