http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/nm/20040207/pl_nm/campaign_edwards_dc&cid=615&ncid=2043MILWAUKEE (Reuters) - Democratic presidential contender John Edwards (news - web sites) visited Wisconsin on Saturday as he sought a win outside his self-described Southern backyard and vowed to stay in the race until he won his party's nomination.
The North Carolina senator has won only one primary so far -- in his native South Carolina -- but is trying to establish himself as the only alternative to the front-runner, Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry (news - web sites).
But he must first beat retired Gen. Wesley Clark (news - web sites) in the South and former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean (news - web sites) who is counting on a win in Wisconsin to resuscitate his campaign.
"I'm in it until I'm the nominee," Edwards told reporters in Memphis, Tennessee, before heading for Wisconsin, which holds its primary on Feb. 17. "Wisconsin is part of this nomination process and we're competing hard there (and) we're advertising there."
