In MN-2, Rowley Gains on Kline
In Minnesota's 2nd congressional district, a new SurveyUSA poll shows Rep. John Kline leading challenger Coleen Rowley (D), 50% to 42%. Since the last poll, Kline has lost 5 points and Rowley has gained 7 points.

Key finding: "The movement in this contest appears related to a shift in party identification."

In AZ-5, Hayworth's Lead Crumbles
In Arizona's 5th congressional district, a new SurveyUSA poll finds Rep. J.D. Hayworth in a tough fight against challenger Harry Mitchell (D) and clings to a 48% to 45% lead.

Since an identical SurveyUSA KPNX-TV poll released 9/18/06, Hayworth has lost 4 points and Mitchell has gained 5 points. Hayworth had led by 12 points, now leads by 3.

Key finding: "In the past 4 weeks, the composition of likely voters in AZ-5 has changed from 52% Republican to 48% Republican."

In CA-50, Bilbray No Longer Safe
In California's 50th congressional district, a new SurveyUSA poll shows Rep. Brian Bilbray (R-CA) barely ahead of Francine Busby (D), 40% to 46%. Since the last poll, Bilbray has lost 5 points and Busby has gained 6 points.

Key finding: "Most of the shrinkage in Bilbray's advantage is because the Republican edge in the composition of CA-50 likely voters has decreased from 14 points to 6 points."

In NM-1, Madrid Pulls Away
In New Mexico's 1st congressional district, Patricia Madrid (D) now leads Rep. Heather Wilson (R-NM) by eight points, 53% to 45%. Since the last survey, Madrid has gained 7 points and Wilson has lost 6 points.

Key finding: "In the past 4 weeks, the composition of likely voters in NM-1 has changed from a 5-point Democrat advantage to a 16-point Democrat
