"We will be dishonoring the service men and women on the front lines as well as their families here at home if we simply stay the course," Farrell said in her recorded speech, which was broadcast nationwide on Saturday.
"Our troops deserve from their leaders in Washington nothing short of a commitment equal to the dedication the troops bring to their duty every day," she said. "Instead they get a flat denial of the horrible reality."
While she said that setting an arbitrary withdrawal date could be dangerous, she said Washington leaders need to set goals for the new Iraqi government and its army.

Party calls for new goals for Iraq, withdrawal of U.S. troops
Democrats are calling for a new direction in Iraq, in their weekly radio address.
Diane Ferrell, who is looking to unseat Republican Congressman Chris Shays in Connecticut, delivered today’s address.
She suggested that Congress establish benchmarks for the Iraqi government so that U.S. troops can withdraw.
Ferrell also said that President Bush should fire Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld.
