Did I hear this right? Did Diane Farrell give the Dem rebuttal to
Bush's Saturday radio address to the country?

I'm psyched! I predicted Diane would be a rising star in the party if she beats Chris Shays, but this is incredible.

I hope I heard this right cuz she's awfully good and I like her. But she's not in my district so I can't vote for her. Yet.

1. Farrell delivers Democratic response to Bush radio address

Congressional candidate Diane Farrell, who delivered the Democratic response to President Bush's weekly radio address Saturday, accused Washington leaders of failing the nation by choosing to "bury their heads in the sand and hope for the best."

(snip)
"We will be dishonoring the service men and women on the front lines as well as their families here at home if we simply stay the course," Farrell said in her recorded speech, which was broadcast nationwide on Saturday.

"Our troops deserve from their leaders in Washington nothing short of a commitment equal to the dedication the troops bring to their duty every day," she said. "Instead they get a flat denial of the horrible reality."

While she said that setting an arbitrary withdrawal date could be dangerous, she said Washington leaders need to set goals for the new Iraqi government and its army.

Party calls for new goals for Iraq, withdrawal of U.S. troops
Democrats are calling for a new direction in Iraq, in their weekly radio address.

Diane Ferrell, who is looking to unseat Republican Congressman Chris Shays in Connecticut, delivered today’s address.

She suggested that Congress establish benchmarks for the Iraqi government so that U.S. troops can withdraw.

Ferrell also said that President Bush should fire Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld.

2. Thanks so much. What do you think about that?
Do you find it unusual for a yet to be elected Democratic nominee to be chosen to give the rebuttal? I believe Diane's former office was as First Selectman of Westport. She made her first go at Shays two years ago.

3. Hi, CTyankee. I envy anyone who is in her district and who will
have the pleasure of supporting a wonderful Democrat on Nov. 7th.

Go, Diane!

4. She's terrific, IMHO
I'm in Rosa DeLauro's district, however, and I love Rosa.

I'm really hopeful for Diane because she's gonna be a star and she deserves it. Also rooting for Chris Murphy to beat Nancy Johnson and Joe Courtney to beat Rob Simmons (that's a hard one).

5. It could all happen. You Connecticut Democrats have been damned
impressive this year, no question about it.

Keep up the very good work.
