I just got elected an Edwards delegate.

I don't know the processes. How does one become a delegate?

9. It's different in every state.

In NY you have to get something like 1000 signatures just to get considered (and that's supposed to be an improvement on the old system which guaranteed that insiders got to go).

we did it by caucus. We have a slate of 6 potential delegates 3 men and three women (our district gets six delegates). By random draw our district slates a male first, then a female, etc. If Dean gets 15% our first delegate goes. Then as percent gets higher we get more delegates and more people get to go. I had figured they all did that sort of thing.

In Illionis it at least used to work that way. I voted for Paul Simon and four of his delegates and one friend who was a Jackson delegate.

I went up to vote for a friend to become a delegate. Interesting process in California. You get a ballot and are told by candidates to vote for three males and three females. It' didn't make sense so I asked someone to clarify the rules. You can vote for up to 7 candidates. The top three male and top three females become delegates. I wish I had run because none of the women showed up.
