complete mindblank on Iraq and his own groupies had drunk the purple grape juice and believed he knew what he was doing..that and he just isn't a socially conscious person..so he really needed the dems and the only way to insure it was to be in his "absolute" control mode this past week with the formerly known as "Rummy" at his side.

Remember that the DOD was ramping up a new PR blitz for the war. The bitter-enders like Chimpy always thought it was all just a matter of finding the right PR campaign.

is a very shrewd political move from him.
I don't agree that he wanted it, but now that its been visited upon him,W seems determined to make the best of it. A good sign for us and good politics for him.
