I bet you think Clark supporters are all closet Republicans. I've been voting Democratic for over thirty years. I'm voting for Clark because he is MORE liberal than Dean, and he can beat Bush. Beating Bush is my number one goal.

Contrary to all the hype, you are quite correct that overall Clark is more liberal than Dean and he can beat Bush, which I don't believe Dean can do precisely because of all his bogus hype.

BTW, since I live in a state where Gore won by a gazillion votes, I was able to vote for my favorite: Nader.

Was not that fond of Gore and knew that my state was definitely going to Gore, so I just voted for Nader as my own little personal protest. If I thought there were the slightest chance that Gore might lose my state I definitely would have voted for him.

21. Why is it so hard to believe?

I'm one of them. It *is* possible to see the light and to change. Am I embarrassed for my past Republican ways? Of course. But I'm doing all I can to work towards unseating Bush next year and to make up for my error in judgement. I was horribly misguided and just not aware of so many things. Now that the door has been opened, there is no way I can shut it. (It's like taking the red pill or the blue pill....)

You can accuse people (Republican types) of being stupid and evil all you want, but the fact is the propaganda in this country is so pervasive and it does work. It's really not about intelligence, it's more about awareness.

I will probably support Clark because I think he has the best chance of beating Bush. I used to think Dean could, but am now seriously doubting that.

People who dislike Clark supporters will vote George Bush. I am sure that there are some Clark supporters who did vote for Bush Jr. but the numbers in this poll will be waaay skewed.

I was tossed throughout the election as to whom i wanted in office the least. I've hated Gore since I first knew who he was in 1987. He and his wife's bouffant encrusted thought police will be forever etched in my mind.
Since L'il Rhody voted Gore by 63%, I abstained on the presidential ballot. Glad Gore isn't running again, because I would have to vomit after voting for him.

I have voted for the Democratic nominee in all other elections since I was old enough to vote starting in 1984.

My mother and sister are also lifelong liberal Democrats who currently support Clark for the nomination.

I think that these polls are inherently flawed due to their anonymous nature. I doubt very much that 19 Clark supporters on this board actually voted Bush in 2000. The anonymous nature of the poll allows anyone with a grudge against Clark supporters to click on Bush to make us look bad.

I would like to see this same poll done without the poll function, simply asking the Clark supporters to post and say who they voted for last time. That would certainly give a more accurate picture.

I seriously doubt that there are 32 active DUers who voted for W in 2000. While there certainly are a handful of repentant ex-republicans like one of the above posters, I think that the majority of votes in the Bush collumn are from people who don't like Clark supporters and are trying to make it look like we're all closet republicans. In an anonymous poll like this, anybody can click on anything with no accountability.

I think that the only valid poll of this nature would dispense with the poll function, and simply ask the candidate supporters to say who they voted for. If you go by that standard in this poll, it appears that one Clark supporter here actually voted for W, and regrets it.

I would challenge you to post a poll of the type that I am suggesting. It would be the intellectually honest thing to do.

I believe you are right that 32 people on DU who voted for Bush is highly doubtful. But, I think some of these people are saying they voted for Bush to "prove" that Clark really does attract "swing" voters. I honestly think most people on DU either voted for Gore or a third party candidate but not Bush. We've had these types of polls before asking who you voted for in '00 and maybe two or three came forward saying they voted Bush.

I'm Independent & supported McCain. When I saw what the Bush crowd
did to him in S.Carolina, that's when my anger began, & I keep getting
