He went off about how they are "all" corrupt.
And my response:
---
I understand your sentiment (friends name).
We will see. Let's hope things change.
If the Dems put forth legislation that helps the working poor and middle class then it will be on Bush's desk for him to veto or sign.
Also, we will now get oversight of the Executive Branch and not a rubber stamp.
The majority party controls the legislative agenda, has subpeona power, and can conduct hearings.
The Dems have not had this ability since 1994.
Times have changed.
First 100 hour plan:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/10/06/AR2006100600056.htmlI get my political views from studying voting records, looking at funding sources of campaigns, and sharing lots of discussion online which leads to great links and information from many diverse views.
Lot's of people limit their political views to Fox News, am radio talkshows such as Limbaugh and Hannity, and the rest of the mainstream "soundbite" news. That approach is very limiting in many ways. That approach gets people riled up with slogans, soundbites, and false stereotyping.
Just because the Dems have won big does not mean that I will be happy.
My intent is to write and keep the pressure on them. We still need to hold their feet to the fire.
I am more hopeful now but I understand your frustration of "they are both just as corrupt".
While I agree to a certain extent, my study has shown that, based on Congressional voting records, that would benefit people like us, the Dems are far ahead of the Repubs. Sure, they both have corruption, I will not argue that, however the Repubs have taken it to a place not seen in our country's history with the Abramoff/Delay K Street project and the enormous war profiteering going on.
