Member Iraq Study Group: "I think expectations of our group are seriously overrated"
Or, put another way, it’s another vague split-the-difference, mushy-middle compromise that will be deemed largely irrelevant about five minutes after it’s released to policy makers and the public.

Snip...

Former Sen. Alan Simpson (R-Wyo.) said this week, “People are looking at us for a ’solution.’ … I think expectations of our group are seriously overrated.” Apparently so. The final report is still a week away and it’s already DOA.

1. Why not get the hell out? Cut and run. The only moral option in an
immoral occupation.

2. Especially when Bush is already ignoring it
Gosh, love that western independent streak of Alan Simpson's. "Don't look at us for a solution" Good grief. This is just incredible.

4. "Everybody knows the dice are loaded. Everybody knows that the game is rigged"
Everybody knows that we're just absolutely fucked in Iraq, but nobody has the guts to take responsibility for it. So as long as we don't say that we're fucked, as long as we don't say that we've lost, we can keep pretending that there is a 'solution' to Iraq.

We can't. There's no 'solution'. We lost the war in Iraq on March 20, 2003, but didn't realize it at the time (not entirely unlike the way the Japanese lost WWII on Dec 7, 1941, but didn't realize it until several years later).
