It seems that Bush's slide has finally hit the below 50 per cent mark. I honestly wonder if the Democrats can take this and run with it? Even some Republicans are rethinking Bush. To my amazment, my father being the stauch conservative that he is has said that Bush has a lot of explaining to do.

Democrats like John Kerry need to take advantage of the situation and turn it into more support plus a censure of Bush and his administration. This is an opportunity to go on the attack.

2. I disagree....

I think the Dems can overplay their hand right now...

Bush is lloking like crap but the Dems cant afford to make any stupid mistakes...I think they should lay back and let Bush keep digging his own hole...its working so far.

Im more worried about the Dems looking like they are piling on.

I think Kerry is doing a good job of not being too overbearing, and just pointing out what Bush is saying in a calm manner.

Its very presidential.

3. What? Allow Karl Rove to spin themselves out of this???
No way. Let's grill the Republicans. The chickens have come home to roost.

7. He's not the second coming. He's tolerable.

Most people, regardless of party affiliation, can vote for Kerry without feeling like they're being "radical". I don't even think it matters that Kerry isn't from the South. There's a lot of Bush "Disaffection", if not outright hatred, down here in Dixie.

I think that's what it's about. Older voters generally can't STAND the guy, because they remember what's up. My 70 and 80 year old aunts grew up with the New Deal, and they see the Hoover BS starting up again.

All Kerry has to do is not run his mouth too terribly much. He can win. I think if he puts Edwards on the ticket, he's got it in the bag.

Kudos to Dean for firing up new voters that will probably vote Kerry. You can't be around Dean and not learn something bad about Bush. Huzzahs to Kucinich for bringing up NAFTA and Peak Oil (although I wish he would start screaming to HIGH HEAVEN about Peak Oil, which is the defining issue of our time).

The Dems have made themselves stronger and much more appealing by having this drawn out primary with so many good candidates. I like them all better than Bush.

Let Al Gore, Dean, Kucinich and Pat Buchanan keep making noise, too. I wouldn't mind hearing from Perot, either. Bush is BAD NEWS, and we can form an alliance with True (Paleo?) Conservatives like Buchanan and Company.

I'm very encouraged. I think we're going to win.

9. Well stated TW. I particularly glad to see a honest appraisal of
Kerry's chances in the South. A "NE liberal can't win" seems to be getting a tad stale, particular when you have a transplanted neer-do-well who's used the South to reinvent his "image".

And I'm with you on Dean and Kucinich....particularly the observation on Peak Oil. Seems to me we can also campaign for change quote effectively simply by contrasting the future paths Republicans will take us vs. Democrats.

Republican Vision = Energy Policy = Oil = National Security = War
Democratic Vision = Employment Policy = Alternative/Renewable Energy = National Security = Peaceful Future.

We have to be the Party of Honesty and spell out exactly why the Republicans have been cashing in while shorting America's future for the past 30 years.

10. Funny you should say that. Did you know NIXON feared Kerry?
Going by the various online polls here, the vast majority of DUers supported Dean or Clark. Granted, DUers who support Kerry are vocal and earnest. I would be proud to count myself as one. The thing is, Kerry has been slamming Bush and the Bush Organized Crime Family since... Vietnam. Behold:

BTW: The Boston Globe has editorially LOATHED Kerry since it was bought by The New York Times.

12. Nixon feared his own fucking shadow. The man was paranoid.
Actually, he still is. But since there's not a lot of natural light down here in Hell, he doesn't have to worry about his shadow anymore.
