Democrats: The very least you can do is investigate.
Investigate everything. Let the cards fall where they may. If it shows criminality, call it like it is. There is no need to put a sweet face on it. You are in our nation's Capitol to represent the people - not to shrink in the face of criticism from the right-winger neocons that put us in this mess. We demand to know what our government is spending and what they are doing in our names. We, the people, are supreme in our democracy - not a tyrannical Executive and not even the Congress. We have the final say. And we say to investigate.

1. I think that we are all ready to live with C-Span
for the next year! I just wonder if congress has the power to force bush and cheney to testify under oath? What happens if they just flat out refuse? Who would enforce whatever penalty??

I think the admin. is planning on stalling & dragging it out until 2008. Let someone else deal with it.

2. Gonna be a long hall to fix the damage, Nancy says:
01/04/07 Be there, be prepared, pack a lunch.

OK, the last part was me. :)

Midnight oil, lots.

4. I could not agree with you more, and if impeachable crimes are found
then it is their DUTY to impeach. If the Democrats respond like they have done for the last 6 years, then the party is worthless

6. Even I agree, and I'm strongly opposed to impeachment.

I don't think there's any chance of convincing the Republicans to vote to impeach Bush, and I think that trying to do so would be very counterproductive, but I think that that's no excuse for not exposing everything underhand he's done to the electorate.

7. Don't overdo it
I know -- some people on here want 24/7 investigations of everything that will amount to jail time, etc. for the current administration. But you know what? I would rather our elected leaders work TOWARD something and not spend two years having meeting after meeting after meeting about stuff that happened in the past. I don't want to let things slide, but I don't want my leaders (who are supposed to bring with them fresh ideas and new plans) to spend their valuable time digging through past failures. I want leadership and confidence and a new direction, not two years of digging up dirt.

Blatant wrongdoing? Fine, investigate and prosecute. But don't work overtime to find wrongdoing if it means not accomplishing what you were sent there to do. There is a goal that is higher and more meaningful than vengeance and retribution, and that is enacting a Dem agenda that will improve our country. Don't let our desire for pay-back obliterate the great gift we have been handed by the people.

8. The people want investigations and the truth...
That is the "gift' we owe them... To pass legislation just to see Bush veto it is accomplishing nothing. Don't expect any great achievements from the Democratic Congress so long as Bush is in office. Investigate! If there is criminality, prosecute!

9. What people?
What people are you referring to? I think you're projecting your own judgment onto the "people." Yes, let's spend two years accomplishing nothing except one committee meeting after another. We all know what happened with PlameGate -- a year of expectations only to be let down in the end because everyone of import skated. You really want more of that?

I repeat -- let's tackle the issues and move America forward. We did not elect District Attorneys; we elected senators and congressmen. Let's have them do their work.

10. The "people" that voted the last election...
If you think they were not sickened by the crime and corruption, then you have been asleep somewhere?
