I watched CNN tonight and
They put a picture of Bin Laden on and the caption was where is Obama? Was it a mistake or was it deliberate? I was quite surprised. They are either mean and nasty or stupid. It was on Wolfie's program around 5:30.

2. I'm putting my money on deliberate.
Lesley Blitzer's got issues with his own given name.

6. Not really
his real name IS Wolf Blitzer. The "Leslie" thing was a joke by Al Franken.

8. By current journalistic standards
the assertion that Wolf Blitzer's real name is Leslie is a perfectly valid one. The fact that "some people" say it's true, makes it a reportable claim. Just like the news reported that "some people" said that John Kerry's medals weren't valid. You see how that works?

Has Leslie ever produced a birth certificate to validate his name? Not that those can't be forged.

11. I'm not wrong.
I'm simply saying that some people have said that Wolf Blitzer's real name is Leslie, and reporting what some people say is now considered to be valid news reporting.

Besides, in my gut, I feel the truthiness of it. He just looks like a Leslie. :)

5. The only mistake CNN made was to go fundie neocon.

That had to be a deliberate slur.

7. An accident
People. Come on. They're not morons. It could very well be that the headline typer-upper is just USED to typing Obama a lot now. And no, they don't always have time to be extra-careful on such a tight deadline. In fact, when I read your post, for about a minute I thought, "What's wrong with that caption?" Easy to miss. There's no grand anti-Obama conspiracy. At the very most it was one prankster typeset guy.

9. Yeah, and all the mentions on TV that his middle name is Hussein.
That's just a coincidence as well, I'm sure.

15. Yeah, you're right...:

It is far more likely that the media, who don't have their shit together whatsoever and operate almost entirely independently from everyone else, including those within their own organization, have banded together to cockblock Obama. No way. And even if there WERE a conspiracy, you think the guy who types the headlines is in on it? Did some executive swagger in to the editting room and whisper "Be sure to type 'Obama' or you'll never work here again."? Give me a break.

17. I sure wish CNN still did the live chat sessions on their website..

They used to host a live chat for a couple hours each weekday (during Inside Politics, Crossfire, and some other show)... =WOW= was it ever BUSY!!

You could type in a comment or question, and you'd get swamped with responses from other people on the chat, or by a group of CNN employees who worked each chat session.

If you could get on right when it started, it was a lot of fun and you'd actually get responses from the CNN people when you bitched about something.

After the first 20 minutes or so each day, there would be so many people chatting that by the time your question or comment showed up, it was about 30 responses downstream..

As far as e-mailing them complaints nowadays, does anyone here ever get a personal response back anymore?
