Bush challenges opposition Congress on spending
http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/01/03/bush/index.html

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Bush on Wednesday asked the Democrat-controlled Congress to give the White House line-item veto power to control spending.

As he prepares to deal with an opposition Congress for the first time, Bush is also asking lawmakers to extend tax cuts.

In the opinion piece, Bush warned that the Democrat-controlled Congress risks stalemate if it resorts to "politics as usual" and tries to "pass bills that are simply political statements."

"It's time to set aside politics and focus on the future," he said in the Rose Garden statement. "I'm hopeful that Republicans and Democrats can find common ground to serve our folks, to do our jobs, to be constructive for our country."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wow!! suddenly he wants to cut spending. Since when did he become a Republican. :sarcasm:
Off course they will have to cut spending by still maintaining the tax cuts & rubber stamping the money needed for the "farce in Iraq".
Together with that they need to give him the power for the line item veto. I think he needs a wake up call Christmas ended a over a week ago.

When are we going to get this guy of the booze.

1. he's partially relieved that he can blame dems
for the mess he has made.

of course he can do that because the ''msm'' will go along with bush's blame game.

4. Another "do as I say, not as I do" moment from the brain dead,
alcoholic, drug abusing idiot pResident.

I notice Bush never misses an opportunity to insult the Democratic Congress by referring to them without the "ic" on the end. Maybe the @sshole just doesn't know any better.

If Bush wants to do the right thing for America (for a change) he'll just admit his infractions and step down from office. That is about all he could do at this point to prove his words are true.

6. "Politics as usual" Okey Dokey!
Anyone have evidence that Bush is practicing something other than HIS politics as usual?

Here's what Bush can look forward to that will be much different than the politics he's experienced from Congress over the past six years:
OVERSIGHT
HEARINGS
INVESTIGATIONS
And the NEW tool in the hands of the Democrats: SUBPOENA
