This link is the most beautiful thing I've seen in ages

I'll guarentee that we'll spend the next 6 years fighting Bob Casey Jr, since he is a pro-lifer. But I know the next six years at least PA will have someone who has their best interests especially when it comes to Labor and the Environment. On Bob Casey Jr's worst days to come will still be better than anything Rick Santorum could have ever done.

3. Actually I was born and raised in Pennsylvania, moved to Delaware 6 years ago
But I had Santorum for my senator for his first term in office and I vowed to do whatever it takes to get that guy out of office

2. Agreed. But we really, seriously need to help
ramp up the pro-choice movement. We're getting stepped on by the religious right, and anti-choicers among dems aren't helping us.

5. Casey isn't as virulently anti-choice as people make him out to be
If anything I'm more concerned about his stance on Stem Cell research but I think even without Casey we have the votes needed to override the veto.

Casey has said that he believes in family planning, EC and birth control but more importantly a better educational program in our school systems outside of the failed 'abstinence-only' stuff. And with us controlling the Judiciary Committee, we won't have to worry too much about how Casey will vote for Radical judicial nominations since they'll get shot down in committee.

People don't give him credit where he deserves it - when it comes to envirnment, education & labor this guy is a good friend to the working class. He'll hopefully do us well there!

11. Casey isn't an activist pro-lifer and therein lies the difference. Many great Dems
have been personally pro-life, like David Bonior, but never focused on it as an issue. With Dems in the majority, activist pro-life bills will just not become an issue. When demagoguing GOPs are in the majority, then pro-life issues become fodder for their dog and pony shows.

4. I'd be happier if he was pro-choice
But at least he's a huge improvement over Santorum on most other issues.

6. That's the reason I felt I could support him
and he isn't virulent anti-choice like Santorum. Casey has stated support for birth control, ec & education. I mean, if you're gonna oppose abortions at least have a plan to help reduce the number of abortions. And if kids can't learn how to properly use a damn condom, families can't afford birth control or we don't have options for when the birth control fails - well then we have a problem.

Plus Casey will do more for the kids once they are born. For Santorum it was all about the fetus - once the fetus was born Santorum didn't care anymore

7. Amen to that, Sister!

I worked with Senator Casey and his senior staff in Harrisburg when he was Auditor General. The whole crew was ethical with a capitol E. Casey & his staff did "performance audits" of state agencies which looked not just at whether they could account for their funding, but whether they were "performing", i.e, providing and enforcing programs serving the citizenry of the Commonwealth, including children, the elderly, residents of nursing homes, the physically and mentally disabled, etc., as state law required.
Casey's office and senior staff held lengthy meetings with ordinary citizens' groups, such as family members of severely autistic or mentally retarded children & adults (which were the two groups I was involved with through a special task force). His senior staff really listened to the concerns and worries; asked intelligent, follow-up questions; and then went out and through public audit reports kicked administrative butts of oversight agencies like the Dept. of Public Welfare to address the problems which the families had identified. Casey takes his senior staff with him from one elective office to the next - they know all the nooks and cranies of Pennsylvania and will be very responsive their constituents.

On Edit: With his performance audit experience, I hope Senator Casey takes a leading role in the oversight hearings on Iraq and all the missing funds, as well as the poor performance by contractors.
