Email from Christine Jennings, Dist #13, Florida
Dear friends,

Today at noon EST, something extremely unusual will happen on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives. While it will not the swearing-in ceremony that we had all hoped for and expected during the election, it will be another important step toward resolving our national voting crisis, sparked in part by the problems we've had here in Sarasota County.

This Thursday, my opponent will be sworn in as the representative for Florida's 13th District, in what I believe is an important, but temporary, measure to ensure that our district has representation in Washington while our challenge to the election results continues. But before that happens, Congressman Rush Holt of New Jersey will stand on the House floor and confirm for the record that this step will not in any way impede the important investigation we believe is critical to restoring the confidence every American voter should be able to have in our voting system.

We continue to pursue such an investigation through the Florida courts. And although a judge recently denied our initial request for access to the software and source code of the faulty voting machines- a decision that many disagree with (including the Palm Beach Post) - I am hopeful that our subsequent appeal will rectify that mistake.

If it doesn't, our Congress has both the opportunity and the responsibility to do the right thing and conduct its own investigation into these paperless voting machines.

I hope you will help me continue this fight to ensure that all our votes are counted accurately and supported by a paper trail. We have a lot of work to do, but with your help, I know we can do it!

Sincerely,
Christine Jennings

P.S. This fight is far from over, and I need your help! Please click here to contribute $50 or whatever you can to this effort. Thank you!

1. In a week of important events, this one stands out, in my mind, above all
the rest, because it is about the FUTURE of our democracy, and whether or not we are going to have a democracy.

For all we know--given non-transparent vote counting, run on TRADE SECRET, PROPRIETARY programming code, owned and controlled by Bushite corporations--Congress should have FIFTY more Democrats, not thirty, and a hell of a lot more antiwar Democrats! That is what the polls were showing. (See www.TruthIsAll.net.)

And you can smell the impacts of non-transparent vote counting in Congress' continued helplessness to STOP THE IRAQ WAR, in the face of a CRIMINAL Executive!

I'm sure the good Democrats will do what they can. But I think there should be MORE of them, and that non-transparent vote counting, controlled by Bushite corporations, is the reason that there are not.

But whatever your state of knowledge of election systems and statistics, you have got to acknowledge that, at the least, WE DON'T KNOW. And that is not okay. And I mean really, REALLY not okay.

Non-transparent elections = bad, fascist government.

Transparent elections = good government, of, by and for the people.

It's that simple.

Christine Jennings is fighting the good fight on this. I hope, in addition to her legal fight, and her fight within Congress, that she HAUNTS this stolen-election Bushite worm, Vern Buchanan, in the Gallery, and in the Halls and Offices of Congress, and in Hearings, and on the Steps of the Capitol in press events, and watches his every move, and vets his every vote, and reports to her constituents what SHE would have done, and how SHE would have voted--and doesn't leave Washington DC until justice is done!

Non-transparent vote counting is UNAMERICAN! And Christine Jennings, and We the People, need to drive that message home, and never give up until we get our country back!

See these DU forums today...

Throw Diebold, ES&S and all election theft machines into 'Boston Harbor' NOW!

And for God's sake, send Christine Jennings $50!

7. Jennings challenge acknowledged in House
January 04. 2007 6:34PM
ASSOCIATED PRESS

WASHINGTON -- Rep. Rush Holt, D-N.J., formally asked the House to recognize the court challenge in Florida's 13th Congressional District in the Sarasota area. Rep. Vern Buchanan, who was sworn in Thursday, won by 369 votes, but Democrat Christine Jennings contends the electronic voting machines didn't work correctly because 18,000 people who voted in other elections did not vote in the House race.

On the House floor, Holt asked Speaker Nancy Pelosi if a notice of contest had been filed with the clerk on behalf of Jennings.

Pelosi said the notice had been filed with the clerk.

"The House remains the judge of the elections of its members," Pelosi said. "The seating of this member-elect (Buchanan) is entirely without prejudice to the contest over the final right to that seat."

Pelosi added that the contest is being reviewed by the Committee on House Administration.

Ralph G. Neas, president of People For the American Way Foundation, applauded the House leadership for making it clear that Buchanan's time in Congress is provisional until the matter is resolved.

"Only after court proceedings and a congressional investigation seeking answers about the Sarasota undervote have run their course, and only after Sarasota's election problems have been remedied, should someone be permanently seated," Neas said.

Buchanan and Jennings were vying for the seat to replace Katherine Harris, who lost her Senate challenge to Democrat Bill Nelson.
