5. Yeah he was talking about lack of respect for the minority
Which are the Republicans. Yeah like they know anything of respect for the minority, late night voting, basement hearings, calling the cops of Democratic members of the ways and means committee and cutting off Democratic members of the judicary committee when debating the renewal of the patriot act

Yeah fuck the Republicans, they didn't care about us when we were out of power so why should we, if he dosen't like the new ethics rules then tuff crap.

4. I thought dave would be rather mellow this session
since marc foley is gone and he has less competition with the pages.

7. Hmm. You're criticising his politics, right?
Not his sexual orientation.

9. What sexual orientation? Has he publicly declared his acceptance and pride on who he is yet?
Didn't think so.

12. Why imply that he preys on pages, male or female?
I hadn't heard anything about that. Seemed like a gratuitous reference. I agree with the OP and with you that he is a first-rate hypocrite.

10. I'm criticising
his hypocrisy. He's a lying "conservative" republican scum who cares not of anybody's constitutional liberties but his own.

11. I agree with the OP
I just didn't have information about him having a page problem. If you know something about that, fair is fair. If not, it just looks like you are implying that because he's gay he preys on the pages.

14. Right, because all gay men chase young boys...
:grr:

It's disgusting how often we see that implied.

15. That
was not my intention at all. Because of people like drier, many gays must still stay close to the closet. His problem is that he is a "conservative" republican who would use the constitution as a weapon against gays; and that pisses me off.

I apologize for any implication, but the thought of "all gay men chase young boys" never did and never has entered my mind.

22. Drier is a self-hating bigot
and I understood your "joke" about him chasing pages and I'm gay and don't take offense. I do take offense to gay men like Drier and Foley who publicly demonize gays and supports others who do all the while getting some action on the side. Hypocritical slime.

18. Yes, it resulted in the elevation of "Boner" Boehner, ironically enough
Had Drier not had a "Brad Smith"* problem, he would have done the introductory speech today, odds are.

The Drier thing is no secret, just like the Foley thing was no secret. The large media outlets won't touch it, though, because they fear being accused of being witch hunters. The smaller and more independent, and frequently gay media outlets DO address the issue, yet the large outlets don't/won't/are afraid to pick it up. No guts, no glory. If they actually DID go on and take the old bull by the horns, we could get past this drama and it would cease to be an issue.

It's like Betty Ford and breast cancer. No one had previously talked about it, newsreaders blubbered and stammered when they came to the word BREAST in their copy. But after Betty got up there and said "BREAST, BREAST, BREAST" the "shock" of talking about boobies on tee vee eventually wore off. Some gutsy so-and-sos just have to make the first move, is all....

Amazing how they still tap dance around the subject in the frigging 21st Century, really...!

*Brad Smith is Drier's "live-in" Chief of Staff, FWIW....

He wants to keep it a secret from his "supporters" while his detractors would openly accept the news. 100% pure republican garbage.

21. And the CRAZIEST irony of all, most of his supporters know, but they don't care
When he goes around privately, it's with Brad in tow...to dinner, drinks, and gatherings with big ticket contributors. The only agita over his orientation was because if he was in the forward GOP leadership getting heavy, continuous national media exposure, they knew that the Mike Rogers/John Aravosis types would be all over him like a cheap suit, and they couldn't have that!

23. stern
Yeah, didn't Howard Stern also allude to his orientation, but he wouldn't answer those questions.

I just can't even fathom the scandal that would cause in the RW if he was in the leadership. It would be like the end of the world for them.
