1. You know, it's kind of interesting ...
You know, it's kind of interesting to me that the media is doing its duty here and routinely referring to this Koran as "once owned by Thomas Jefferson." I was fully expecting them to routinely omit that fact to fulfill its ersatz role as the propaganda arm of bushco, in an effort to undermine the democrats.

See how far we've fallen? We're now interpreting innuendo and minutiae in the domestic press the same way that was done in the past with Soviet-era Pravda!

2. The photo of Ellison's hand on the Koran is spectacular.
Whoever the photographer was, she or he created this photograph with great respect.

3. It really is a lovely photo.
It reminded me that a couple of years ago I went to a concert in a private mountaintop chapel. I can't recall the owner's name right now - but he was in the Reagan Administration*. He showed my daughter a Quran that had been given to him by Saddam Hussein.

*so, a clarification - the chapel was built by a nice older gentleman. well, that part is all true (he was very nice to us) - he is William P. Clark, former Secretary of the Interior for Reagan as well as former justice of the California supreme court. He was also Reagan's chief of staff when Reagan was governor.
