Would you support the troop surge...

If, as Senator Levin says he'd support it, it was tied to a withdrawal? If it was tied to a withrdawal of the troops I would support it. I'm starting to think that this is what Bush is going to decide on, your thoughts?

4. No, because it makes no logical sense.
The two concepts are mutually exclusive, in fact. If you send in more troops, then obviously they're going to be there for a good while, else they wouldn't need to be sent - and if you can withdraw troops, then there is no need to send more in the first place.

5. But we have to talk reality.

The vast majority of the people in this country do not support a full on pullout. The mainstream of Democrats do not support an immediate withdrawal but a timed withdrawal. If we can get both sides to agree to this solution of surge then withdrawal then I am for it. Because it's a solution. We can't decide this one on our own, not even with our majority.

10. NO, ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!!!
And all of the 'statements' that you make in the post I'm replying to are wrong/inaccurate.

(i.e., "vast majority in this country do not support a full on pullout", "mainstream of Dems do not support an immediate withdrawal")

The only people in this country who support this 'war' are the last 11%, the 'dregs' of the country, if you will. (Remember too that there are always 3-4% who are 'unemployable', even though supposedly they could work....just no one with an honest/decent business would hire them) ~ this last 11% obviously includes that 3-4% unemployable group too....no brains, no common sense. Living in Mom's basement.

13. I think you took my words out of context.

I did not mean to say the mainstream/majority of Americans do not support a pull out at all but that the opinion from most DU'ers on here is to just pull out all at once now and the majority of people on this board would be happy. I mean to say immediate pullout, all at once, just ditching Iraq, is not supported by the majority of American people.

18. Your original question was about "supporting a troop surge"
Surge = Escalation. You've heard a resounding 'NO'.

Any other questions?

Maybe justice will prevail. He has earned it and he is almost begging for it.

In any event he's a fucking liar. If you believe that this idiotic "surge" is a pre-cursor to withdrawal, I feel sorry for you.

20. Now you are purposefully taking my words out of context.

Supporting a surge so long as it is tied in WITH a withdrawal. Meaning it's bound. That was the question, stop trying to spin stuff so you can be elitist and superior.

21. Also, I'd like to mention...

That I do believe Bush is impeachable. However I don't think thats what the people elected their new majority to do and I don't believe we have all the votes required. Unless something profound comes from our investigations I doubt he will ever be impeached and I believe doing so will hurt our newly created fledgling majority.

22. Chill, dude.
I'm expressing my opinion.

A surge is pointless. It will get a lot more of our kids killed. Bush is a fucking liar. He will agree to anything, but will do whatever he wants in the end. He is the Commander-in-Chimp.

If we continue with the illegal occupation, we will get our asses handed to us, just like we did in Vietnam.

I don't care if God says it's a good idea. At best this is a delaying tactic to drop this horror show into the next president's lap. At worst it's tossing more people into the meat grinder.

Bush has lied for the past six years. :wtf: makes Levin or anyone else think he isn't lying now?
