It's time for the Democrats in Congress to spit or get off the pot.
The people of this Country have spoken out loudly in the last election. We have given control of Congress to the Democrats. It is time for action. The issues covered in the Demo plan for the first 100 days are very important. But the Democrats in Congress should not ignore the horrible Iraq War.

Many Democrats in Congress let the Country down by not fighting hard enough to prevent this war, instead choosing to take the safe “patriotic” stand. Now it is time to rectify this horrible mistake. Yes it will be tough politically for them but it is their duty to their constituents, the Country, the World, and the poor Country of Iraq that we have destroyed.

Some Demo representatives have been quoted as saying they don't want to be the ones responsible for the chaos when we leave Iraq.

I appeal to the consciences of these Democrats to please take action to get us out of Iraq. Stop the funding. Stop the profiteering.

Also, it there is the slightest chance Bush will escalate this war into a war with Iran; he must be removed from office. He is crazy and willing to sacrifice our Country and possibly the World. Impeach as soon as possible.

Don't misunderstand my criticism, but as a Democrat I expect our representatives in Congress to represent us.

1. Wow, they haven't even been in office 24 hours
Can they at least warm up the seat first?

2. Ditto... Why are so many "progressives" adopting the RW/MSM
line?

Six years of F__kups are not going to be corrected in 10 minutes, especially given the goons remaining in the WH. Keeping the pressure on is one thing. Unintentionally (or intentionally) enabling the RW and MSM to attack the DEMS for political gain-- using extremely unrealistic or impossible expectations-- is quite another.

3. Not to mention that there just isn't much that they can do right now
The funding was put in place for this year already. I believe they would have to pass new legislation to rescind it. Such legislation would be in the form of a new law, one that requires the signature of the president or an congressional override of a presidential veto.

New funding, when it comes up (and it will), can be denied by the Congress.

They don't have many other options to end the war.

12. No, I'm saying it's not POSSIBLE.
A thin majority in both the House and Senate (and the Senate is 1 vote) is simply not enough power to do much about stopping the war. It's not legally possible without the Presidents or minority parties cooperation, and if they had either of those the war would have ended already.

But that's not to say they shouldn't try now, at least to force the republicans into an even worse position (supporting a clearly insane idiot of a pResident) than they are now.

13. All I am asking is for them to try. To initiate legislation rescind the war powers
they gave this mad-man, legislation to provide only enough funding for withdrawal. I only ask that they make it higher on their priority list than the minimum wage. I only ask that they put up a bigger fight than they did in 2003.

15. Yeah, they should try... just to see how many Repuke Senators
will vote against this moron President. Who knows, we might get lucky and get the 67 votes needed.

It would sure be a vote of "no confidence".

the war.

4. We have a hemorrhage - right now I just hope we can stop the bleeding
And it's not gonna be easy because what the republicans have done is like a giant size gash oozing & infected with maggots crawling around it. A simple band-aid will not solve the problem

8. I resent your implications that I am supporting RW attacks. Sounds to me like
your saying that holding our elected democratic representatives accountable, now that we have put them in office, will enable the RW. I beg your pardon, but I am going to push as hard as i can until we end this War. It will be hard, very hard, in fact it may be impossible, but we need to start taking actions. Sorry if i am impatient but hundreds die every week. The War should be the number one priority for this Congress.

18. Tthose who agree with you but are trying to be
realistic in exploring options, are not attacking you, ror. You are concerned and reacting to those concerns. Some, though are using our understandable impatience against the Dems. We have to be cautious of that. This isn't about you at all.

19. Thank you for being understanding. If I sound as if I have a chip on my
shoulder, it's because I do. Everyday I see our freedoms slipping away and it is extremely hard for me to be patient.

5. Sorry if I seem anxious to end the war, but I believe the Pres is
insane and we are headed to World War III. He is sending more ships to the gulf.

I don't expect miracles but they have had plenty of time to come up with a strategy. Just how long do you think we should give them?

7. Your anxiety is shared...
Absolutely...

But, sadly, Rhett o rick, what you are demanding does strike me as miraculous. Again, I agree with keeping the pressure on, but reversing this disaster is not going to be "clean," quick, nor without difficulty.

9. Sorry if i am passionate about this issue, but I don't think we are "keeping the
pressure on". Some democrats are supporting the "surge". George will surge us into a war with Iran.

22. Yeah, well they got 'til Monday to end the war. Just kidding. But ending
the war should be a high priority, if not the top priority. Now that they are in office, I don't want them to let the Country down.
